Citi sent out notice that they’ve added a 24 month Extended Warranty benefit on various cards like the Double Cash, Custom Cash, and possibly other Citi cards on the Mastercard network. You can see the full details at this pdf link.
*Extended Warranty doubles the time period of
your Covered Purchase’s original Manufacturer’s
Warranty or Store Warranty up to a maximum of
twenty-four (24) months following the day that the
Manufacturer’s Warranty or Store Warranty expires.
*If you purchase a Purchased Warranty of
twenty-four (24) months or less on a Covered
Purchase with an original Manufacturer’s
Warranty (or Store Warranty), this coverage
doubles the time period of the Covered Purchase’s
original Manufacturer’s Warranty (or Store
Warranty) up to an additional twenty-four
(24) months following the day that the original
Manufacturer’s Warranty (or Store Warranty) and
the Purchased Warranty’s coverage periods end.
Back in 2021 they removed the Extended Warranty and other benefits from most cards, and they are now adding back the warranty benefit.
Thanks to all those who sent this in.
I think Strata Premier Mastercard already has something like this in place, and it stuck around even after the Costco Visa had its warranty benefits removed.
Wow this is great timing I am about to buy a fridge. So 2 year Costco warranty doubled to 4 years with double cash.
Assuming Costco card doesn’t get this since it’s a Visa. Hoping they bring that back eventually
Right, this new version is powered by Mastercard. They could totally go with the Visa-backed extended warranty for Costco though.
I’ll add a note
The pdf link is Mastercard-specific. Logging into my Citi Costco Visa account does not indicate that this feature has been added back to my card. Hopefully it’s just a matter of updating the site, but it seems quite possible it won’t be on the Visa cards.
it’s good to have extended warranty on Double Cash, missed it for the past few years.
Extended Warranty doubles the time period of

So it just doubles the Warranty. For things that are 1 year covered by the manufacturer (most electronics) it only doubles it. If I am not mistake before it was adding 2 years regardless of the manufacturer warranty.
That’s correct
