Our Verdict
We posted the same deal yesterday, but on the personal version. The current best offer is 60,000 miles and then they let you match to 75,000 miles. What’s interesting is that matches to 70,000 miles from this offer are working as well for some, meaning you can effectively get 70,000 miles + $200 statement credit. Obviously not guaranteed to work though. Before applying or asking basic questions in the comments make sure you read these things everybody should know about Citi cards here. Also keep in mind this offer contains the following language:
- This card is not available if the business already has a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® card. Statement credit and bonus miles are not available if you have had any CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card opened or closed in the past 24 months
We discuss this in more detail here.
Hat tip to -T-Rekt
Being that the 60k offer expired, does anyone know if you could get matched to 75k from the current 40k offer.
Does the the purchase of AA egift card triggers the $200 credit?
I searched but couldn’t find the DPs. I believe there is a thread somewhere but can’t find it on search.
I know this is an older post, but the deal appears to have changed recently. The offer linked is now 40k AA miles w/$2k spend over 3 months. Statement credit reduced to $100 as well.
Hello,
Does anyone know or has tried if the $200 AA credit counts as part of the $2.5k minimum spend requirement, meaning it will really just be $2.3k minimum spend if we use the $200 credit? TIA!
Personally wouldn’t risk it
I highly doubt it.
50k+$200 seems dead, link goes to 40k+$100.
Here is my DP. Applied for my SO on 7/18, immediately approved. Given temp card number instantly, but could not create a login with it. Physical card arrived on 7/28, so requested a match only on 7/30 via SM, and was matched today 7/31 with no problems (20K will post within 2 billing cycles). They actually reminded me that I still need to spend $2.5K within 90 days to get my original 50K bonus (implicitly confirming that the spending requirements did not change with the match).
I did not re-confirm my $200 credit, as I did not want to bring it up, and will deal with it after my bonus posts, but I am positive it will be there – as they do not change the offer, but giving out miles instead.
Good luck to all.
I did the same thing as you and got the same message. Bonuses posted after hitting 2.5k but purchased plane tickets at about 170 total on the 8 of August and have yet to see the credit post. ideas on how long?
I bought a $200 GC from AA on 7/2/18. In two weeks I received the statement credit.
Great news. Thank you SO MUCH for posting.
Would you please retrace your steps and specifically let us know where you bought it? I mean which menu/link on AA site you clicked.
Since there were some users who claim they did not get the credit I would like to repeat your steps exactly.
Also, did you buy 1x$200 card, or several at a smaller denomination?
Thanks a lot!
I bought 1x $200 GC at https://giftcards.aa.com/. This was for the business $200 statement credit. I just repeated buying the gift card buy today for the personal card. When I first got the cards I did some spend and then requested via secure message for additional miles. I think I got 15-20k depending on the CSR. About a month or two later I bought the gift card.
DoC, do you recommend going for the 40k+$100 then ask for a match? Or just go for the 70k offer?
Max match is 20k points, so I guess you could do 40k + $100 then ask for a match. I’d personally just wait.
Wait for what?
Has anyone applied through this link now that its showing 40k + 100 statement credit? If you’re still able to match to 70k then the $100 statement credit is still worthwhile vs the public 70k current offer.
I was approved 7/19, then given an instant card number.. You can use that to make a login at citibusiness.com. Put in your card details and it should allow you to make an account and do SM. I sent my SM verbatim from below, we will see what happens.
I was able to match and got 20k points added to my account within 2 billing cycles. Thanks for the help people.
