Our Verdict
We have seen similar offers in the past and we’ll add this to our best credit card bonus page. Before applying or asking basic questions in the comments make sure you read these things everybody should know about Citi cards here.
Hat tip to generic19name
Can someone please clarify if the miles will be added to my personal AA account (the only AA account I have) or Citi will create another one and deposit the bonus miles to that account.
Has anyone tried closing their existing Citi AAdvantage Business card that was opened more than 4 years ago and then applied for this new offer the next day? Trying to see how long a previous card/account would need to be closed for before applying to get the 75K sign-up bonus miles for this card.
I applied having read that they did indeed provide a temporary virtual card although with a . I did not see an option for one and it says I must verify the card before I can add it to a digital wallet.
Just an FYI for anyone who was considering this to pay for your taxes, it likely won’t show up in time.
I think it’s fair to say Citi won’t match this if you’ve applied recently without a mailer?
Citi doesn’t match
Can confirm. Tried today. They wouldn’t do it.
think the most baffling part was me calling the executive response unit and having the first person on the phone tell me that they don’t do that?
they wouldn’t even let me file a complaint/request to have them consider having it matched
If I have the personal of this and got it last year and it’s still open, can I get this bonus?
Yea business and personal are separate. My wife got the Citi biz, Citi personal, and Barclays personal all in the same month in October
What about the language of receiving 1 bonus per 48 months? I got the aviator red bonus about a year ago.
Aviator Red is a card issued by another bank (Barclays). Those are completely independent.
Any point in applying within 48 months if I use SSN this time around vs EIN for last year’s app?
I’d like to know the same. I applied under a LLC EIN two years ago before they set up business AA profiles. I’m considering making another attempt using a SSN this time.
Is Citi receptive to giving you the current offer instead of the one you signed up with? I applied in March, and have until June to meet the spend requirements.
I called a little bit ago and I was told that they wouldn’t be able to match the new offer and that I would have to apply for a new card to get the new offer. For reference, that was approved for the card on April 1st and it should arrive today.
Granted, the person I spoke to didn’t seem all that confident in what they were trying to do, so I might HUCA as most things I’ve read said that Citi will typically match within 90 days.
I’m curious about this too. I signed up last week
Called and got another rep. They indicated that you need to receive a mailer addressed to you with the elevated offer and then you can call in and get it matched. I asked who gets letters, and they said it’s random.
WIll i have to open a separate AA biz account ? And how cumbersome is it to maintain two accounts ?
I have both cards under my business webpage sign-in. Currently working on the 75K SUB on the personal card. If memory serves, seems you have the option to split or put under one sign-in account. I know if you sign-in to your existing card account and click on credit cards and select/apply from there, you will be under that account. I have two AAdvantage cards and two CitiThankYou cards under one account.
I am super new to the Citi ecosystem. Will give it a whirl. Thanks for the info.
Closed the card and forgot to first transfer the miles over to personal account. Now miles are stuck in AA biz account and will expire in 24 months.
Learn from my mistake, transfer your miles out!
Can you apply for the card for the same business again? Obviously no bonus..and no guarantee they will approve it, but… worth the try. No AF on year 1 anyway. If you do that make sure to provide your BIZ loyalty account number on your application in addition to the personal, so they do not create a new one, but link to the existing.
Hey Gumps, Did you call Citi and ask how you can transfer the miles out to your personal account?
According to AA rules (this has nothing to do with Citi) you can transfer miles from your AA business account to employees (need to add them to your biz account first) if …
“Businesses must have a minimum of 5 active registered travelers and have $5,000 in spend from registered traveler flights on American Airlines over the last 12 months to use miles earned with the program.”
Having a Citi Biz AA credit card overwrites those requirements. That is why it is very important to transfer business miles to yourself (or another person) before you close the business card. Obviously, one can fulfill those requirements, but I guess it is not that easy for Gumps, so I suggested to get Citi AA Biz card again, even without the bonus.. may be it will work.
Exactly. Having 5 registered travelers all with AA activity will be difficult for me. I called Citi and am attempting to reopen the card. This resulted in a hard pull, still waiting on confirmation if I was approved or not for reopening. Card was closed about 40 days ago.
Is this something new regarding the accumulations from AA citi business card to a separate business AA account? In the past they always accumulated in my personal AA account — regardless where I got the miles from.
Yes, this has changed approximately a year and a half ago. And as far as I can tell based on a few personal DPs this applies only for businesses with different EIN.
Have a corp with EIN and separate biz account was created.
A friend applied as a sole prop with SSN and the miles went to his personal AA account (as before), and no separate biz AA account was created.
Not sure what would have happened if you had Sole Prop with different TIN. We do not have a DP for this scenario.
My biz account is sole prop with personal SSN. Miles were separated from personal account. Same situation for P2. Both cards opened early 2024.
Link appears to be dead now. Tried it yesterday and it worked. Today I decided to apply and it no longer works (even incognito or different browser).
