VL Were you able to confirm other DPs of churning this bonus if still got the bonus just a year ago?

I confirmed over the phone that my new card has the SUB offer attached to it (despite the fact that I got the bonus on this product approximately 2 years ago under the different business, diff EIN). So, it looks like before the limitation was across all businesses (as long as they were linked to the same personal loyalty account), now it is separate, because every business has its own business loyalty account which receives the bonus.

This is my interpretation of the DPs we have.. so please take it with the grain of salt.. but YES, I confirmed that I should receive the bonus. I will update here when it actually happens (need to spend $5K).

Good luck.

I have not received the bonus yet, but confirmed via chat that the bonus offer is attached to my account. So, we should be OK.

Hey there, isn’t the personal account used to login to the business portal? (that’s what I just experienced, at least).

If that is also the case for you, does that mean you have two businesses after you login to the AA business portal? https://aadvantagebusiness.aa.com/app/

Also, did you add your personal AA number and leave the business one blank? Or both blank?

Yes, I login with my personal account, and then can select whether to go to PErsonal or Business.
Since I have only 1 biz account I do not need to select the business, but the friend of mine who has 2 says that you just select which business account to go.
Yes when I applied I provided the personal AA loyalty account and left business blank (they assigned one). Personal needs to be provided, so they can link it properly.

Good luck.

Appreciate the response! To confirm, when applying for the 2nd card, you used a new/separate EIN, business name, BUT kept the same personal AA number on the 2nd application. If you leave the business one blank, shouldn’t it have created a new business account for you too (therefore you have 2 business accounts?) Thanks again 🙂

When I applied previous time the old system was in place, so no separate business account were created at that time. This time – new stand alone biz AA account was open by Citi (and it is automatically linked to personal AA account).

and yes, new/separate EIN and listed the same personal AA account (as before). You are not supposed to have more than 1 personal AA account.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, so for the new app, you used a new EIN (but everything else was the same, including business name and personal AA number?)
Also, if you had a new AA business account created, wouldn’t you also have two separate business profiles too? Appreciate the responses.

I have 2 separate businesses (2 separate EINs), but for both I am the owner. 2 years ago (when the old system was in place, and biz bonuses were deposited directly to personal AA accounts) I got the bonus on biz #1. While with the old system this would disqualify me for another bonus for 48 months (regardless under which business I would have applied.. the bonuses were tracked by AA member), now with the new system, I applied under the business #2 (still me listed as the owner on the application), and confirmed that the bonus should be awarded.

I am curious to find out what will happen if I apply for biz #1 without waiting 48 months, since it will be clearly given a brand new biz loyalty AA account.. but.. do not want to get too greedy 🙂

Hopefully, this clarifies the situation for you.

Appreciate the in depth explanation. So I actually got a bonus with the current system in place last year (separate biz account / personal account).

Do you think it’s worth trying to add my own personal AA number with new biz EIN? Or should I just leave personal AA blank too? I feel like that shouldn’t matter because I can use the AA biz account to transfer to any personal AA account.

I would add personal AA number on the new application for your new business. Otherwise it will not link to your existing personal AA… and they are likely to create a new duplicate personal AA account for you as well.

Although, this may seem as not a big deal (as you can add yourself as an employee to the new biz account, and transfer the miles that way) it may violate AA T&C {not a legal advise.. just my personal opinion}.. as you are not supposed to have 2 personal AA loyalty accounts. AA is known to be not that friendly when they suspect fraud.. and I would not want them to flag me for anything suspicious.

Also, I do have a DP from a friend who did just the same as you were planing to do, and per my understanding he sees both biz accounts under the same personal login, and just need to select one from the list. So, it seems to be working fine for 2 businesses linked to the same personal AA account.

Oh wow, so your friend was able to get 2 bonuses (for the same product) within 48 months, using a different EIN? Thanks again!

VL

Correct. My understanding is that they now track the bonus per loyalty account number. They kind of did the same thing before as well, it was just that all bonuses for all products were linked to the same loyalty account (personal), and now, the accounts are different.

This is my interpretation of the rule, so do not hold me liable for that :))) but… very little to loose to try to get another bonus. No AF for year 1, so if you do not have a bonus attached to your offer (you can check before you start your spend), then just sock drawer the card, and close in a year. If you do not get the bonus, it does not affect your future bonus eligibility in any way… right?

If I received this card with a SUB earlier this year using my SSN and name for the business, can I get a 2nd SUB if I use an EIN with a DBA? It would be for a different business.

Yes you can. In fact, I am working on both the biz and personal SUB at the same time, as I applied for them close together. All of Citi AA cards are considered separate products to qualify for the welcome offer.

Recvd card, activated, but don’t see it in my Citi online account or App. Do we need to create a separate log in and biz profile (like Chase), or, can we have it under our personal existing profile (like Amex allows)? thanks!

Those cards issued by different banks, so they are completely independent. Each bank has its own rules, but you for sure are eligible for the bonus on Citi Biz card regardless of the fact if you received a bonus on Barclays card.

Same can be said for personal and business cards – the bonuses on those are independent one from another.

Offer eligibility only lists the 48 months since last bonus. It does not say anything about you holding this card currently. So, based on that you can even apply for the second card under the same business (although may have to explain why you need 2 of them), but for sure you should be able to apply under the different business and be eligible for the bonus if it has been 48+ months since last SUB for you. Make sure to count from the day you got the SUB, not the day you got the card.

You can apply as a sole proprietor using your SSN (at least this is how it was before).
