Citi has announced that Costco cardholders will no longer have to pay foreign transaction fees (FTF) on the card. Previously they were charged a 3% fee. For people in our hobby, this isn’t a huge announcement given how many cards now offer no foreign transaction fees but I suspect that a lot of Costco cardholders have that as their only credit card (or front of wallet). It’s also a no annual fee credit card (although the list of no FTF, no annual fee cards is also quite long. Costco card also requires having a paid membership so it isn’t a true no annual fee card).
You have link to a list of no-FTF no-AF cards, but the page on that link is a year old. Not only did you not add this Costco card to that linked page, you also didn’t add the fact that the no-AF Hilton card from Amex also has no FTF since being refreshed January 2018 (it didn’t change its name, like Surpass->Ascend, but it got refreshed a bit too). I’m not sure what else might be missing there.
I believe this card didn’t have the foreign transaction fee in the past as long as you were buying at Costco, but anywhere else they charged the fee.
I’m always glad to see fees go away. 😀
what?? holy shit. i thought it already didnt have FTF. good thing I didnt use it for its global CB cats. dont know how i thought that.
Fee went away for Costco Citi business I believe . To the best of my knowledge none of my foreign transaction since late January on the Costco business have had fees.
Brings greater truth to the “anywhere” in the name.
This would be a great card if the cashback was given monthly instead of annually for both the personal and business versions –Citi, if you’re listening! 🙂
Any idea if you can product change this to a double cash or something if you quit costco? Hate to lose the credit history and wouldn’t mind a double cash without any pulls.
I have been trying through SM and calls and no luck yet. Hoping it’s just a HUCA situation until you find the right CSR.
Wish they removed it from DC
