Citi Dividend 5% Cash Back Full Calendar For Next Year + Product Change Information

Cashback Calendar

Citi has released the 5% cash back calendar for their Citi Dividend for all quarters of 2017. It is as follows:

  • Q1: Home depot & Home Furnishing Stores
  • Q2: Drugstores & Fitness Clubs
  • Q3: Hilton & Airlines
  • Q4 Best Buy & Department Stores

Keep in mind that the Citi Dividend is different to the other 5% cash back cards in that you’re given a $6,000 yearly limit that you earn 5% cash back on. Discover it & Chase Freedom limit you to $1,500 per quarter. I obviously prefer the way Citi does it as it means I can max out the full $6,000 in a single quarter if there is a category I like (e.g Q2 & drugstores).

Product Change

Citi does still let you product change to this card even though you can’t apply for the card directly. Some rules:

  • Card must be at least twelve months old before downgrading
  • Conversions can take up to 51 days (this is usually done much sooner)
  • Some representatives will say that product changes must be done within the same product family (e.g an American Airline card must be downgraded to another AA card). This is not the case, rather than arguing, hang up and call again.

Also keep in mind we still don’t really know how product changing affects your eligibility for card sign up bonuses with the new rule.

Just converted my DP to Dividend. Was told it will change in early January. Rep pushed the DC hard and said the dividend is only 1% lol. Finally she gave up and agreed to let me convert.

Today I successfully converted a Citi Hilton card to another Dividend card. Rep said will take effect 10/3/17.

This makes the second card I’ve converted (first was an American Airlines card). I’ll have another AA card eligible in December, so I wonder if I’ll be able to get three of these. 🙂

The rep sure pushed the Double Cash card hard, but I stopped her pretty quick by saying I already had one. She never mentioned that I already had a Dividend card.

No. I just called Citi yesterday to ask if I can product change my Forward or Costco Anywhere to any other card and was told that it’s not possible.

I just learned something about the Citi Dividend card that might be helpful to others. I maxed out the $6k spend at the 5% bonus level but my YTD cash back dividend balance looked off.

It looks like the maximum cash back you can earn is $300/year. I thought it was $300 on the 5% bonus categories, then would be 1% after that, but apparently not. It looks like this card will be totally worthless to me until next year now.

Not that 1% is a good rate, but I thought it would at least get something. If I’m wrong, someone please correct me.

Yeah – it’s going back into the drawer until January. I just didn’t realize that’s how it worked. I PC’d into this card just a couple of months ago so this is my first time using it.

You guys seriously buy enough drugs in one quarter to rave about the cap?

I converted TY Premier to Dividend recently. Now AA card coming up and I’m considering options. With $300 max cashback Dividend doesn’t feel very exciting actually. Do you think it’s possible to convert AA to Best Buy card?
