Citi Dividend Q2 2024 5% Categories: Grocery & Drugstores

Citi has released the 5% categories for the second quarter of 2024 on their Dividend card. Signup begins on 3/14/24:

  • Grocery Stores
  • Drugstores

Both of these are popular categories for regular spend and for the ability to purchase third-party gift cards to use elsewhere.

Citi is different than the other cards in that you have a $6,000 annual cap rather than a $1,500 quarterly cap. You can get 5% back on up to $6,000 in this quarter or you can save the entire amount for a different quarter, or you can use part up each quarter. A lot of people will want to use up their entire $6,000 annual limit during Q2 2024 quarter with these easy-to-use categories.

Last year it was gas stations and home improvement stores, did they forget to add home improvement this time? I’m going to be irritated if so.

Just got the email for signing up but saw the following when I clicked the link: “We are unable to process your request. Please contact Customer Service using the number on the back of your card.”

In addition to the link for the 2nd quarter still not available for sign up, I am having constant problems logging on to my account. I have to try 2 or 3 different browsers, then try icognito on each. Still can’t logon so do a Google search for Citi login and try this url and then go through the process of different browsers, icognito, etc. and finally can log on after about 10 attempts. Is anybody else having a problem with logging on to their account?

It has been no longer available to sign up since when? I knew it has been a decent amount of years. That is awesome they grandfather it in. And with the cap being yearly you can do big purchases when a category falls into place. Is the cap based on calendar year or anniversary date?

Time to put this back in my wallet as I didn’t need it there for Amazon.

I usually can’t sign up until the 1st of the new quarter. Wonder if Citi will fix their IT (snickers)

Citi is called $h!ttyBank for a reason. Quarterly sign up never works until at least several days after the date stated. Last quarter it finally worked on the 19th.

Although I agree with you that it is a minor inconvenience, I don’t really see a big issue with it as long as it can be activated before the quarter begins.

That’s the problem. Usually I can’t.

Citi’s categories are so much better than Chase’s next quarter.

Restaurants is a pretty good category. Combine it with Amazon and it’s pretty decent. Chase did groceries for Q1

Do you mean that it’s a high cap ($6K) or the fact that the cap can be used all in 1 quarter or throughout the year?

$6k isn’t really a high cap. It’s the same cap as with Chase Freedom, Discover It, US Bank Cash+, or AmEx Blue Cash / Preferred.

I agree with you on that. I was just curious what Grant meant by their comment exactly.

There is only one possible thing it could mean (annually beats quarterly).

The post does say the cap is annually on this card; However there could be two common interpretations on when it resets. Does it reset each calendar year or anniversary date when you signed up for the card?

The $6K limit is per calendar year.

Actually based on December statement date, not calendar year.

December purchases that appear on your January statement will eat into next year’s cap. I’ve been burned a little by this before.
