We’ve discussed in the past various offers for the Citi Prestige card, in-branch vs online, but there’s also enhanced/different offers from Citi only available in-branch on other cards. Travelwithgrant and RapidTravelChai both provide images of these offers, here and here.
ThankYou Premier In-Branch Offer
- Get up to 50,000 points with signup for the Citi ThankYou Premier credit card. 30,000 can be earned after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months. An additional 20,000 points can be earned after a total of $15,000 in spend within the first 12 months.
This is different than the online offer of 20,000 points after $2,000 in spend within 3 months, and another 30,000 points after $3,000 in spend within the first 3 months of the second year.
Of course, the spend threshold for the in-branch offering is much higher, but for someone who anyway plans on doing lots of spend in the ThankYou currency this is a better deal. Particularly, if your plan is to cancel at the 12-month mark to avoid an annual fee, the in-branch offer may be worthwhile.
Remember, as of April 19, the earnings on this card are similar to those of the Prestige card (and even better perhaps), so you won’t lose by racking up the spend on the Premier card. Points can then be transferred over between the accounts.
Also note that in the past there has been a targeted offer of 50,000 points after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months, which is obviously much better than both of these offers.
AAdvantage Executive In-Branch Offer
- Get up to 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles by signing up for the Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard. Earn 30,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months and another 30,000 miles after spending $15,000 within the first 12 months. $350 annual fee.
There are two interesting parts to this offer: the 60,000 points and the $350 annual fee. The online offer is 50,000 points after $5,000 in spend. It also comes with a higher $450 annual fee.
Again, the spend threshold for the 60,000 mile in-branch offer is much higher than the online offer, and it may not be worth it for many. But the discounted annual fee is also a plus.
Our Verdict
Neither of these in-branch offers are much better than the online versions, for some it may be slightly better and for some worse, but it’s interesting to see different offers available in-branch from what’s available online. We need to keep our eyes open for a real opportunity.
One note, I’m not entirely certain if these offers are supposed to be specifically for CitiGold customers, the way the Prestige offer is advertised. In any case, many had success getting the Prestige offer without being a CitiGold customer and these offers would likely be the same.
I believe these two in-branch offers are also supposed to be for Citigold clients. These two offers, along with the Prestige offer, are printed on the same page: http://rapidtravelchai.boardingarea.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Citi-Prestige-Branch-60k-Offer.jpg
Yeah, that’s quite possible.
They probably are, but not enforcing this at all.
