Citi Offers: Get 4% Back At Giant/Stop & Shop (Up To 12 Uses; $30 Max Cashback)

Update 9/19/24: Deal is back and valid until November 18, 2024.

The Offer

  • Check your Citi Offers for either 2.5% or 4% back at the Giant or Stop & Shop grocery chain. Offer can be used up to 12 times with max cashback total of $30.

The Fine Print

  • May be redeemed 12 time(s) by the offer end date.
  • Max award is a $30 statement credit.
  • Offer is nontransferable and the enrolled card must be active and in good-standing in order to be eligible for an award. Offers cannot be combined or stacked with other offers. If a merchant processes your online order in separate transactions, you may only earn an award on the first processed transaction if it meets all other offer criteria. Other exclusions and restrictions may apply. We may determine that certain offers are ineligible for an award. We may, in our sole discretion, suspend or deny your eligibility for all or part of the merchant offers program at any time without advanced notice to you.

Our Verdict

Grocery deals are always nice. This one has a respectable $30 max cashback for some real savings.

Frequentmiler notes that thereโ€™s also a Rakuten in-store cashback offer for Stop & Shop, as well a SimplyMiles offer. Those two run on the same network so youโ€™ll have to choose which one of those you want.

  • If you have the Custom Cash and bought a $500 VISA gift card, the cashback works out to $39.35 (7.87%) after the $5.95 activation fee.

      • Ummmm, not so "stupid." Have seen promos like this in past vary between Stop & Shop then GIANT (which one?) and then Martin's (not mentioned here) In the past, I've had these citi offers work very nicely with martin's -- but don't recall if it was because Martin's was specifically mentioned in the offer, if one of the partner brands (S&S or Giant) was indicated....? Anybody else try this yet?

        • I spend at Giant on it often, there isnt a Stop and Shop around, so I think it is ridiculous that they show me a store that isnt local. If it will rotate, sure, but ive never seen it.

  • It appears that the $30 maximum statement cashback is per statement.

I think everyone here myself included thought that it is for a combined $30 cashback during the time the offer is available.

I bought a $500 VISA gift card on 3/20. And received $20.24 credit (4% x $505.95) on the statement which closed on 4/17.

I then bought a second $500 VISA gift card on 4/18. And received a $20.24 credit on the next statement which closes 5/17.

    • Had the same experience as you did on my two Custom Cash cards, on two separate statement cycles. Basically I got $20 back on each of four $500 VGCs, I only expected $30 total for the offer on each card. I wasn't sure if it was $30 per statement, or maybe even $30 per purchase, since the offer allows up to 12 charges. Anyway, I'm going to try again as I just started another statement cycle, hopefully it is $20 again per $500 VGC.

      • @guest_1812879,

I have the offer on my Dividend, not my CCC. I have already received the $30 statement credit as I made 1 purchase for over $1K. I am considering making another purchase at S&S on Tuesday (the last day of the offer) to test your theory.

I looked at the terms again and it does show "Max award is a $30 statement credit." so @guest_1812778's theory is more likely to be correct but for my sake, I hope that you are right.

        • The $30 per statement cycle appears to be true. Maybe I'm just greedy thinking that it is $30 per purchase... but I wish you luck on Tuesday!

I just checked my account. I received another $30 credit for my 4.30.24 $750+ S&S purchase. Both purchases and credits appear on the same current statement. That means that Risk's theory was correct!

That also means that we could have received $360 in total credits if we had made 12 $750+ transactions during the promo period. Of course that wouldn't have made much sense in practice for me since Dividends only receive CB on up to $6K in spend per year.

There's always next promo to test it further, right?

          • Wow that is wild, so $30 cb on $750, can be done 12 times per card lol. I'm guessing they won't make that same mistake again, this one is too good!

      • Lucky you.
I would have been able to do this 3x as well, but I had already purchased a $500 VISA gift card at Walgreens for the first billing cycle making drugstores the 5% category. I also received an additional $1 Merchants Offer for Walgreens (it was 2% but capped at a paltry $1) but that pales in comparison to the $20.24 for Stop&Shop.

    • That seems to be a mistake by their programming. I won't be able to take advantage of this though as my statements don't next close until May.

      • On my current statement period, I only bought a $500 VISA gift card. The total came to $505.95. Received the Merchant Offer Credit of $20.24

        • Thanks. Someone else had posted that they only got credited when the statement closed. Obviously, that was incorrect. Glad to hear that it shows up fairly quickly. My purchase just posted today so hopefully I'll have the $20.24 back in a day or two.

          • You should see the $20.24 posted about 3 days after the purchase posts.

This has been a very good deal for the Custom Cash.

      • 4/18 $499.95 charge
        4/21 -$20 merchant offer credit
4/22 statement close, 2500 thank you points for grocery spend

It doesn't actually say it excludes gift cards but I didn't have it total $505.95 just in case.

  • 2x points on Visa gift cards this week, good use for this offer. Get a total of 9% back.

  • Has anyone made multiple purchases and did the second purchase also get the 4% statement credit?

I made a $200 purchase on my March statement. That statement credit was posted 3 calendar days after the transaction posted.

I made another purchase recently on March 27. Today is April 1. So far no statement credit.

I am just wondering whether Citi's IT system messed up again and is allowing only 1 transaction instead of multiple transactions to accumulate $30.

      • Sorry. I didn't see this sooner.

Actually based on what I saw with my 3rd statement, the $30 maximum cash back is per statement.

I have written another post about this.

  • My Citi Double Cash just closed yesterday March 15, 2024.
Citi Merchant Offers showed as Redeemed for $8 for a purchase of a $200 Target gift card at Stop & Shop.
That cash back was not on this statement but likely will be on the next one.

  • I just checked and my 2 Dividends were targeted but my 2 CCC were not. What a shame.

Have the 2nd quarter Dividend categories come out yet? I wonder if there's any chance that it will be grocery, which would be good to combine with this offer.

  • I got offers for both Stop & Shop and Food Lion. Unfortunately, neither one is located in my state. We do have several Giants, but of course I didn't get an offer for that.
