Citi Prestige Card No Longer Showing On Citi Website (Card Not Accepting Applications For Now)

Update 7/2/21: Looks like this is indeed something and Citi has stopped taking applications for this card now. Citi reps are now providing this generic response:

From time to time, Citi re-evaluates its card product offerings to ensure the business is evolving its products to best meet the needs of its customers. The Citi Prestige Card is one such card product.

As of July 1, 2021, customers will no longer be able to apply for the Citi Prestige card. Additionally, as of June 19, 2021, cardmembers will not be able to convert to the Citi Prestige card. All applications that have been submitted prior to these dates will continue to be processed.

Existing cardmembers will still be able to use their Citi Prestige Card without interruption and benefits will remain the same for primary and authorized users. Existing cardmembers can still add authorized users to their accounts.

Original post: The Citi Prestige card is not currently showing on the Citi website and the landing page leads to a generic error message. There are a few things that could be happening here:

  • Citi has discontinued the card (extremely unlikely)
  • Citi is revamping the card (possibly in response to the American Express Platinum changes. Somewhat unlikely)
  • Citi is doing some general maintenance and the card will reappear soon (most probable)

At least one chat rep has said the card has been discontinued, whereas others are saying that isn’t the case. They are notorious for being wrong.

No one can product change the prestige out to another card as of June 19th per multiple citi reps. I have tried 3 different phone reps who were all very helpful. I also tried the chat function with the same issue. Front line reps are just hit with IT limiting them. They claim either you can cancel or keep and pay the annual fee with no retention offers anymore. You should update the post as such to help others plan their earn and burn strategies before their annual fees come due.

A bloomberg article seems to confirm they’re no longer taking new applications

Looks like the application link has now been taken offline?

Sharing my DP that the “ghost” app page in the comments still works and I was approved – if anyone was hoping to grandfather into this at the last minute (or lock in old fee with potential better benefits if there indeed is a refresh). If it is grandfathered and terminated, I’ll sleep well knowing I’ve locked in a card offering 5X, PP with restaurants and unlimited access for immediate family members (not just 2 guests like everyone else), and $245 net fee in this age of ever-increasing AFs.

Combined with Rewards+ 10% rebate/10X small charges, 2X on all DoubleCash, and now 5X Custom Cash – it’s a pretty potent combo. I just wish I grandfathered into the legendary Sears card also!

Good to know! Hope they don’t close out the account.

Old, but to update after almost a year: the account was not closed and is still open to this day. I plan to keep this long term… nice combo with Rewards+/DoubleCash. Really can’t find 5X dining, 5X air/travel agencies/OTAs anywhere else (5.5X with Rewards+ rebate).

Ditto, add another data point that the “ghost” app page is still taking applications as I was just approved.

Wish Citi gave folks a heads up. At least Wells Fargo did for the Propel. Although they too are still taking applications. Based on the CSR rep statements, they have been at least been planning since mid-June if not awhile in regards to whatever they ultimately have planned for the Prestige. I suppose they wanted to see what the Platinum changes were live on 01 July.

Hopefully it’s a much needed refresh that restores the Prestige as a viable premium travel card. Or heck, release the Ultima for the U.S. markets.

If you don’t mind, how many cards did you open last 12 months? I already had 2 application denials last year due to too many recent inquiries.

Oddly enough they pulled TU. I was 1/12 account openings and 2/12 for inquiries.

AMEX refreshes their premium card, so Citi’s response is… to immediately take their competing card off the market? Feels like they’re missing an opportunity to target disenchanted Plat customers who don’t like the new $695 AF and coupon-book style credits. I don’t get the logic, even if Citi is in fact doing a refresh of Prestige. Induct people into the ecosystem first.

Yeah, it seems like a panic move on Citi’s part, though timing it right before a long weekend makes some sense. If we don’t see anything next week, we’ll know it was unplanned.

I find it unlikely that the general public would know something that their internal marketing team does not. Although the timing of the pull is indeed somewhat suspect.

If there is a new premium card released, I hope they allow prestige cardholders to convert, if they would like to. I’d have to wait awhile for another TY bonus anyway.

This refresh will be a great one for sure, Pam Habner is a genius. She will get Citi competing for the top spot. Btw, anything right now is a plat killer. That card is ridiculous, I guess Amex is looking for an ultra niche clientele.

I was hoping for it, but sadly as of September 2023, they still have no released the new Prestige card.
