citi prestige 50k offer

The Fine Print

  • Annual fee of $450

Our Verdict

It’s possible to get a higher sign up bonus of 60,000 points (30,000 points after $3,000 in purchases within three months and another 30,000 points if you spend $15,000 or more within the first year) and a reduced annual fee of $350 simply by going into a Citi branch, you’re supposed to have a Citi Gold checking account but this doesn’t look to be enforced at all.

It’s also been possible to get this same 50,000 point bonus for awhile now for some targeted people just by checking your targeted offers with Citi. All of that being said this new 50,000 online bonus is quite attractive because the total spending requirement is only $3,000 rather than $15,000 – although the annual fee is quite cost prohibitive at $450.

It’s possible to counter act this annual fee with the $250 in airline credits per calendar year (meaning you can get at least two of them and only pay the annual fee once), what counts is also very broad (basically anything that codes as an airline).

I’d recommend reading our semi completed review of this card for more details and F.A.Q’s you might have.

I’ll add more information to this post at a later stage.

Anyone know how long this offer will be available?

In late March I got the Citigold Prestige offer, 30,000 TYP for $3,000 and 30000 additional TYP for $15,000. Called recently to change this to the now public 50,000 TYP for $3,000 offer. Rep was willing to do so as long as I confirmed I was giving up the 2nd 30,000 TYP for $15,000.

If you want to spend $18,000 the staggered offer is a bit better (78,000 TYP after $18,000 spend vs. 68,000 TYP after $18,000 spend), but if you have better uses (or worry about meeting) the $15,000 2nd part it makes sense to switch.

How can I get the annual fee waived if I’m thinking of just using the 50K points to redeem giftcards?

Is there any trick to getting the card with the $350 annual fee in branch if you don’t have a Citigold account? Is the $350 annual fee for the lifetime of the account?
