[Expired] Citi Q2 2023 Spend Offers (Targeted)

Deal has ended, view more spending offers by clicking here.

The Offer

Citi sent out moments ago a new email offer for April, May, and June of 2023 on their various cards.

  • Activate to get 5x points or 5% back on purchases in select categories. Up to 2,500 points/$25.
  • There are different categories being offered. For some it’s gas, grocery, restaurants, and retailers. For others it’s gas, hotels, car rentals, travel agencies and timeshares.

Our Verdict

I got the Grocery version on my Custom Cash card which is great since it’ll stack with the regular 5.5% since I use the Grocery category for my regular 5% category. My offer also shows “Shopping at your favorite retailers” – no details are given on what’s included in that.

Is this on each statement through June 30? I maxed out bonus on my current statement (ending 5/17). Will continued bonus category spending through 6/30 allow another 2500 (max) bonus on the next statement?

Same. I have a Citi Custom Cash that I use two or three times a week, and a Rewards+ I use a couple of times a year. No offer on either.

This is a bit odd, maybe I am misunderstanding. I only have Citi DC, not CC, and I got this email. My guess is that it’s a mistake on their end (intended for CC). Was still able to activate, so I’m curious if I now get 6% on all these categories?

They don’t have a website like chase.com/mybonus to check my cards, do they?

No but yes. In your account, you can check offers for you… (actually there’s a site but don’t have it handy)

on my custom cash, but it showed no offers available at this time

First timer getting this on my Citi Custom Cash card, does it mean we’ll get 10% back on our most used category up to $500 (so $50 back instead of just $25 a month) and then continue to get 5% on all categories up to another $2000?

No.
Because there is an upper limit of $25; any spend over $500 will get you over the limit.

Seems like max bonus is 2500 points ($25) on top of your normal cashback. Max it out with $500 spend.

$625, it’s +4 points per $ spent.

Seems like there are two different versions, +4 and +5. They also reference Custom Cash 5% base structure on emails to people with only Double Cash. Citi being Citi I guess.

So what I can gather from the responses is to max out the $500 spend in one category to get the $25, then spend another $500 in either the same category or another category to get an additional $25- Is that correct?

Also, what do you think they mean by eligible purchases and then list Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Restaurants, Shopping at your favorite retailers, and more! What would and more mean? Would that be any purchase you would normally get only 1% back if it wasn’t one of your main categories to get the 5% back on such as insurance, taxes, etc…?

No. Spend $500 to max. The extra points should stack with the normal cashback. $500 would max both normal cashback and the bonus offer at the same time if it’s a category that qualifies for both.

I got this on Custom Cash

Earn an additional 5 ThankYou® point(s) per $1 spent, up to 2,500 on eligible purchases1 such as:

✓ Gas Stations
✓ Grocery Stores
✓ Restaurants
✓ Shopping at your favorite retailers
✓ And more!

Does that mean I earn 5x on any of these or just 5x on one of these categories?

Probably all, but you will want to make either the gas stations or grocery stores be the top-spend category if this offer is on your Custom Cash.
You will 10x.
