Our Verdict

Some people have the option to cashout Citi  TYP at 1¢, if you’re going to do that then this is better value. Reader Peek shares this deal, but notes that these might be 20% on Cyber Monday, so it might be worth holding off a few days and hope to get a better deal then.

Makes it sweeter using a rewards+ card for the 10% back up to 10k.

If you want the discounted Apple gift cards, I’d hold off. They have been 20% off on Cyber Monday for the past few years.

Aren’t most of these in the consumer discretionary sector? Depending on one’s situation, taking the cash and earn some interest might be better than blowing them on things that aren’t actually needed.

On the other hand, I have a feeling that Citi is probably paying way less than 0.8c on 1c of face value for many of these GCs (maybe not apple and staples).
