The Offer
- Citi is offering a 25% transfer bonus when you transfer your Citi ThankYou points to Qantas. Normally you can transfer 1,000 Citi ThankYou points and receive 1,000 Qantas miles and with this transfer bonus that changes to 1,250 Qantas miles.
The Fine Print
- Valid until 11:59 PM ET April 13th, 2019
Our Verdict
This is the first Qantas transfer bonus we’ve have seen Citi offer. For a full list of other transfer bonuses Citi has offered, click here. There aren’t currently any other Citi transfer bonuses. You need to earn or redeem at least one Qantas mile every 18 months otherwise your miles will expire.

Not to be pedantic, but the name of this company is not “Qantas Airlines”. It’s just “Qantas.”
Since “Qantas” stands for “Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services” the word “Airlines” is redundant. That’s why you will notice that Qantas never uses the phrase “Qantas Airlines”.
Now, about your inconsistent use of the apostrophe…oh, never mind.
I just Googled “Qantas Airlines”
Looks like you have to correct a LOT of people in the world including Qantas US homepage where they mention “Qantas Airways Limited ABN 16 009 661 901” 🙂
I love when they say “Not to be pedantic” but they really are being pedantic. They cannot help themselves. They add nothing to the discussion about the 25% transfer bonus points of Qantas airlines.
Thank’s you
Maybe fix the second word of Qantas’ Wikipedia page, too? 😉
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qantas
“Qantas Airways (/ˈkwɒntəs/; ASX: QAN) is the flag carrier of Australia and its largest airline by fleet size, international flights and international destinations.”
Qantas is one of the weaker transfer partners of TYP. Unless I had a specific redemption in mind I wouldn’t pull the trigger. My favorite transfer partners are Singapore, Avianca, Flying Blue and Virgin
No one should ever consider a prospective transfer unless they have an incredibly good idea of what they’re going to use the miles for.
But Qantas is one partner that I can’t really think of very many good uses. Probably the only good one might be regional domestic flights on Qantas within Australia, but even that can probably be done better by other OW currencies most of the time.
Qantas is pretty weak even with bonus where I can’t even think of any sweet spot. But then it’s not as bad as MH tho, MH redemption is so horrible even at 1:2 I think it’s still bad
Almost like saying cancer is bad but Ebola is worse….i guess we’ll stay away from both
I get good value out of JetBlue flights, but I fly out of Boston quite often
