Chicken Class Settlement
Settlement Website overchargedforchicken.com
Numerous large chicken producers (Fieldale, George’s, Mar-Jac, Peco, Pilgrim’s, and Tyson) are taking part in a class settlement which alleges that they conspired to restrict the supply of chicken and fix the price of chicken against antitrust laws.
Who Is Eligible?
Anyone who purchased fresh or frozen raw chicken, whole cut-up birds purchased within a package, or “white meat” parts including breasts and wings from Jan. 1 2009 through July 31, 2019 (or through December 31, 2020 for the Pilgrim’s Settlement).
Only the following states are eligible: California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
Excluded purchases: chicken marketed as halal, kosher, free range, or organic.
How Much?
No info on how much we’ll end up getting. The settlement pot is about $181M.
Important Dates
- Jan. 1, 2009 through July 31, 2019 (or December 31, 2020) are the dates when a chicken purchase makes you eligible for this settlement
- Dec. 31, 2022 is the last date to file a claim
- Dec. 20, 2021 is the fairness hearing
Our Verdict
This one doesn’t sounds like it’ll be settled any time soon, but hopefully whoever files will eventually land up with a few dollars.

This website has lots of Open Class Action Lawsuit Settlements You Can Claim.
Is this a trust website?
Any risk if I file lots of claims online?
Thank you so much!
Speaking of class action, anyone knows what’s up with that Equifax data breaching class action? They said $125 at first but I don’t think you will get that much.
Not even close, and that was pretty easily predicted. Be lucky to get a $1
Something tells me the producers probably made a little bit more than $181M as a result of a decade long price fixing scandal, but I’m no expert in chicken law…..
Now, let’s say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor?
Where’s Harvey Birdman when you need him?
It’s just a business expense
What if you lived in those state between 2009 and 2019?
Betelgeuse ㊙️
You should be eligible from what I understand:
4. Am I part of the Settlement Class?
The Court decided that, for settlement purposes, members of the Settlement Class are defined as:
All persons and entities who indirectly purchased fresh or frozen raw chicken (defined as whole birds (with or without giblets), whole cut-up birds purchased within a package, or “white meat” parts including breasts and wings (or cuts containing a combination of these), but excluding chicken that is marketed as halal, kosher, free range, or organic) from Defendants or alleged co-conspirators for personal consumption, where the person or entity purchased in California, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island (after July 15, 2013), South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin from January 1, 2009 (except for Rhode Island, which is from July 15, 2013), to July 31, 2019.
Shawn Thank you!
Probably $2 if I’m lucky.
A couple weeks ago I got an email regarding my settlement for a 1800-contacts class action, I think they also conspired to inflate prices or something similar. Was expecting $.05 or something but when I logged into Paypal I was pleasantly surprised to find a deposit of $99 and change! You never know.
Dang. Missed this one but I would’ve qualified.
I’m a vegan but signed up anyways. it’s illegal to discriminate against vegans
You bought chicken?
Vegans are not a protected class so it is not illegal to discriminate against them. The plants encourage it!
Can I get a KFC meal instead of a settlement paper check? 😋
So people who don’t live in one of those states aren’t supposed to eat chicken?
Knew this day would come. Been saving chicken receipts for years. My brother-in-law’s cousin worked at Pilgrim’s and tipped me off about the activity in 2017. Figured that’s just how big business worked but then I realized there was an opportunity — class action settlement.
On top of my receipts, I’ve been the largest purchaser of chicken receipts in America. Over $200,000 of receipts. Was able to scoop them up for pennies on the dollar.
Friends thought I was crazy every time I paid them for their receipt but who’s laughing now, Betty?
LOL Yeah betty!
Cool, now let’s see them do this with the oil industry…
Good one
