A lot of requirements and difficult to keep the aim checking account fee free. Might not be worth it for most people, but if you do decide to go for it please share if there is any credit card funding and if it’s a hard/soft pull.

The current offer posted on DoC started in March. What is the promo that you signed up for?
2/13 – opened AIM checking and savings accounts
2/20 – $4,000 DD from Alliant
3/6 – 9x bill pays to myself (all were between $1 and $2)
3/9 to 3/12 – 50x $0.50 Amazon reloads
3/16 – $4,000 DD from Alliant
4/14 – $4,000 DD from Alliant
6/15 – $100 Direct Deposit Bonus, $25 POS Bonus, $25 Bill Pay Bonus (but no $50 bonus for monthly recurring transfers to savings)
I had set up repeating transfers within the TBK Bank interface that sent $25 back and forth between the two accounts each month. But according to the customer service rep I spoke with this does not count as a monthly recurring automatic transfer. They stated that it is something that you must fill out a request form to sign up for and is different than creating scheduled transfers yourself (WTF?).
How do you make bill pays to yourself and from which bank account? Appreciate reply, Thanks!
Did you have any confirmation that Alliant worked before you received the bonus? As in, were they showing up a certain way on your account statements or your recent activity?
Alliant savings or checking?
Do you remember how the Alliant DD showed up in your transaction page?
I tried with Chade Biz and it came as JP Morgan Chase EXT Transfer #1234567890 (making up #s here) but unsure if that will trigger..
mothman69 I know it’s been a couple years, but do you remember what it coded as?
Sorry everyone, I didn’t realize you all had replied to my comment until someone just recently tagged me.
SHTF Sooner or Later I added myself as a “person” in bill pay and then scheduled multiple payments to myself from my TBK checking. They will send checks in the mail.
Zindella I do not think there were any previous DPs for Alliant with TBK before I tried. Alliant seemed to work fairly regularly with other banks so I decided to try with TBK.
ieatdogfood Alliant checking.
Stev-O L I don’t remember what what Alliant coded as.
Some DPs William Charles :
ETF is $15 if closed within 90 days.
$100 minimum deposit to open AIM checking.
$25 minimum deposit to open personal savings. The monthly service charge on the personal savings account can be waived by one of the following:
-maintain avg available balance of $50
-be over 50 years old
-be under 23 years old
-set up a recurring automatic transfer from a TBK Bank AIM, Everyday, or Base checking account
$500 minimum deposit to open money market account. The monthly service charge on the money market can be waived by maintaining avg available balance of $500.
Cash bonus is credited to your account in statement cycle following 120 days after account opening.
I would put that $12,000 DD in bold text. Some of us who contribute heavily to various tax deferred amounts won’t have much in DD, especially at start of tax year (2020).
Lots of banks count ACH transfers as DD.
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/#TBK_Bank
There aren’t any data points for TBK though, but if ACH worked it would be a lot easier to meet that $12k.
Well it’s cumulative and you have a whole 120 days, so you could do 3x$4k, 6x$2k, 12x$1k, 24x$500, etc… could be a pain in the ass, but maybe not so bad with auto-transfers. Anyway, the threshold is definitely way below $12k. But you do need at least $4k a month cumulatively to stay fee-free.
They allow for online account openings, but the bonus page directs you to enter your information and wait for a banker to reach out for you. Not a ton of info on the exact bonus requirements on the page, so I’ll let them reach out to me. Not a great start and the bonus requirements sound onerous.
EDIT: I actually tried to apply online after, different form but after you put in your personal info it just says “thank you for your submission”, so presumably no matter what you do, you need to speak to a banker before you can even apply for an account.
Still no response on their end.
Noticed looking on their web site an asterisk about Bill Pay. It’s not available in Texas for whatever reason.
I assume that lowers the total bonus possible by $25 for Texans since we can’t fulfill that particular requirement.
