The Offer
- Coinbase is currently offering up to $6 of EOS. You get $2 per short video you watch and there is a total of 3 videos. There is also one advanced lesson that gives you $14 in Dai
Our Verdict
Coinbase has similar deals with the following cryptocurrencies:
You can also get $50 in XLM from Blockchain wallet. None of these deals are much (apart from the XLM blockchain deal) but they add up. Also it can be fun to just do these deals and then hope that the price will increase (Update: DAI is a stable coin so no chance of it increasing in value).

In WAY over my head and just want to cash out to USD. No idea how to do that. I have DAI’s, ETH’s, XLM’s and BAT’s. Tried to follow Austin’s send/receive instructions here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/coinbase-learn-about-dai-get-6-in-dai-for-free/#comment-794329
But I am just spinning my wheels.
Anyone?
Been on the waitlist for 3 weeks…did the first $6 before so once I tried to do the advanced lesson I had to join the waitlist again and wonder if thats why I can’t seem to get off the waitlist for the advanced lesson for 14. These waitlists are usually a couple days so don’t think I’m getting cleared.
Still on the waitlist, I guess I’m not eligible or this ship has sailed!
Relevant for anyone thinking of doing these offers:
I had two inquiries from Coinbase on my Early Warning consumer report. Both coincided with dates I added linked a bank account to my Coinbase account to transfer out the funds. I don’t think EWS inquiry totals factor in much when opening bank accounts, but they might at some banks.
Stuck and confused at “Connect to Coinbase”:
— “Now that you’ve set up your Coinbase Wallet, please connect to your main Coinbase account.”.
Huh?? How can I be logged in, see everything in the app, including level 3 authorizations, funds etc., and not “connected to my ‘main CoinBase account’ yet”?
— I’ve gone through everything, I downloaded, installed, logged into my Coinbase wallet. But, I go to “settings” within the Coinbase Wallet app, and I see NOTHING that looks like what they said to do: In step 3 from the Tutorial #4, Tap “Connect to Coinbase”. NOTE that the wallet does show the first $6 earned in DAI.
— Back to the “offer/tutorial for Tutorial #4 webpage”, (which I have tried from both PC and Android phone browsers with the same results):
After logging into Coinbase in the browser, it shows my completed 3 lessons, (earning $6 DAI), and so clicked on tutorial 4: It said to download the Coinbase Wallet app, OR to tell it I already have the Coinbase Wallet app. Then, step 3 says, “Connect to Coinbase”. Since I can’t complete it, step 4 “Complete Connection” won’t occur, and the message, “waiting for connection” spins for hours, waiting.
— Anyone have a clue??
— BTW, I went to the website, https://cdp.makerdao.com/ and found nothing to link Coinbase Wallets there on that site. Also, by leaving coins in a CDP, they are charging over 20% / year. That is true, unless and until they CDP is liquidated by force, which they charge a one time 13%. This occurs if the price fell below 66% of what you used as “collateral to produce that CDP”. I’m assuming if they keep reducing the collateral with maintenance fees, this would occur in about 19 months @ 20% interest.
— I also went to the Coinbase Account page on PC, Tools, and then “addresses”. Change the BTC to DAI, and you should see whatever you’ve earned / have. Under that, I had NO addresses listed. So, I created a new one for DAI. Noth sure if this will help solve my original problem though.
GOT the answer I think!!
When I said that “I have a wallet already”, which I took to mean both the wallet, the app, and already logged in, that part was true. However, this was, and IS STILL the problem:
There are THREE DIFFERENT ANDROID APPS that are “Coinbase Wallets”, not just one! I have already installed TWO of them, but not the third, which was what I needed:
— 1. “Coinbase – Buy & Sell Bitcoin. Crypto Wallet”
Published by: “Coinbase Android”, whoever that is. (I’m sure this is safe to give identical credentials to multiple apps and multiple app creators that are NOT named “Coinbase.com”, where my account really is! NOTE that this is the ONLY APP listed under this author!)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinbase.android
This is NOT the app that you can use for the “lesson/tutorial”. Yes, you can see everything in your account, buy, sell, and just about anything else. This is the app I was referring to above, where there was NO “Connect to Coinbase” button in “settings”. This IMO, is the app that should have worked. BTW, is even says “wallet” in the title of the app.
— 2. “Coinbase Wallet Lite”
Published by: “Coinbase Wallet” (Hmm Is THIS the Coinbase.com company??)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinbase.wallite
I installed this after the main wallet app above. It expected different credentials such as a passphrase, so I just created a “new wallet” instead of even trying to hook it up to Coinbase. I intend to uninstall — It also has 3.2 / 5 stars.
— 3. “Coinbase Wallet — Crypto Wallet & DApp Browser”
Published by: “Coinbase Wallet” (Hmm Is THIS the Coinbase.com company or someone impersonating them??)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.toshi&rdid=org.toshi
Alas, I couldn’t install this app on my older Note 3, so I can only presume this is the app I am supposed to get. Note 10 anyone wants to get rid of yet? 🙂
Also note that I clicked the button to text me a link to install the app. I tried that link on my PC, it would only take me to the Apple App Store and not Google Play.
Utilizing the uniswap dApp will let you trade in your remaining ETH for DAI or MKR that you can then use to close out your CDP. Do keep a dollar or so of ETH as you’ll still need it to pay network fees… Something I just learned and will have to pay extra fees to fix. Oh well, I enjoy the experience.
The CDP basically makes money if ETH decreases in value. You buy back your DAI at a better rate. New horizons! Or at least that’s my simple understanding of it.
Does anyone know if the $50 in XLM from Blockchain Wallet is still active? I don’t see anything about free crypto when I click on the link.
It is not active. But if you make a wallet and sign up on the listing, you’ll be notified of future “airdrops” which are what the free stellar lumens were. Airdrops are common in cryptoland, providing users with new free tokens to either explore with or cash out.
Not available in NY
Anyone know what to do after creating that stablecoin thing? I now have Coinbase app (with some of my previous currencies), and a new, separate Bitcoin Wallet app, with $2.98 ethereum, and $0.06 Stablecoin. Any idea how to get those either cashed out, or just back into Coinbase?
you should have gotten $14 in DAI on your coinbase account. The $2.98, and $.06 is just something that they give you for testing it, etc. You could cash them out by sending it back to Coinbase, but you’ll need to read the comments below on how to precede as I’m also in the middle of closing the CDP
