So, I filled everything in, and I wanted to review a form but clicked on start over. Boom, this free edition is gone and now I have to pay. Fxxk

The IRS website has a full list of sites where you can file for free both federal and state—no need to spend money to get your taxes done.

Just did mind in FreeTaxUSA, I was a 20+ year Turbo Tax customer. No complaints, it’s a little less hand holding but it sure feels nice to not have to enter my credit card at the end! I’m in a state without a state income tax.

I have a simple question for the bank bonus experts here. Is it possible to show bank bonus as business income in annual filing? That way, I can put some expenses (e.g. driving, internet, …) against it. Any advice would be really appreciated!

If you can justify and demonstrate that bank bonuses are a gig or business income during an audit, go for it

Just a reminder that Free Fillable Forms is free from the IRS to e-file with no income limits. Requires just a little extra work but works well.

I normally fill in info to TurboTax to get my refund number then check my fillable forms number against TurboTax to make sure I got all the forms and numbers right.

Doesn’t handle state, and my state only allows e-file if you file @ same time as federal.

i was able to add a CA non-resident form for free. that would be a more complicated situation normally not free.

This is up to Premium, but no Live assistance (regular customer service is included, but not the live tax pro)

So you have to file today for this offer? Or just select and sign out is fine?

Just select and signout is enough.

No thanks to giving the leeches on the American taxpayer at Intuit any kind of business. I’d rather stick with FreeTaxUSA’s free federal $15 state with no “you actually make too much, your taxes are too complicated, etc. you actually have to pay” BS

Completely agree with the sentiment. Found it to be quite a pain to manually put in all my 1099s into FreeTaxUSA last year though

Yeah that was the only downside. Still nice not to have to pull out the credit card at the end.

Intuit, the new welfare queen. Reagan must be rolling over in his grave.
