Avoiding Fees
Need to sign up for online statements otherwise there is a $3 fee.
Monthly Fees
Citizens Bank One Deposit Checking Account $9.99 Monthly Fee
The One Deposit checking account comes with a $9.99 monthly fee. Fee is waived by making one deposit each statement period. (According to this comment they really do count any deposit – even a transfer from another Citizens Bank account will trigger this.)
Early Account Termination Fee
As far as we know there is no early account termination fee.
Our Verdict
We’ve seen a $600 bonus in the past, but that required a $15,000 deposit to get the full bonus. This is a better option for those without that extra money sitting around. We will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

Applied today with Chex and Experian frozen. Live within footprint. Had a checking account maybe 3 years ago, so was able to log in with my old credentials when applying. No issues getting approved.
USBank business account push triggered DD designation on bonus tracker (bonus trackers sure are helpful features!)
This is totally off topic but not sure where else to ask this and I’m sure some of the people here are like me and use Fidelity as a hub to satisfy DD requirements for bank bonuses since their ACH is very fast. I’ve used it for years, but lately they’ve been forcing me to use their mastercard finicity verification instead of microdeposits and worse, making me submit documentation to establish the link, like a bank statement, etc. which is difficult for a new account. Anybody else running into that and have any workarounds for a new Citizens account? Seeming like I’ll need to use a different hub.
Wait a week before attempting to link a brand new bank account to Fidelity. That worked for me & PNC. Will that always work? Unknown.
Yes, other people are having issues. Fidelity did some drastic moves after the Chase “infinite money hack” where scammers where having mules deposit fake checks. At least, that’s the rumor.
There are some comments here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/alert-fidelity-cash-management-account-extended-hold-times-billpay-cancellations/
Thanks, that gives me some other posts to follow. Fidelity did link PNC for me in January with just the Finicity verification and no documents. I did notice a quirk though where the account numbers in Fidelity’s transfer UI didn’t match my real PNC account numbers, transfers still worked though as expected, but kinda weird and had me slightly on edge.
5/3 and Citizens both have Fidelity forcing me to submit documentation to establish the link. Time to go researching a new hub to use…
The account numbers not matching is a security feature, replacing the account number with a “vanity number”. I have seen that at a few banks and does seem really strange without context.
I got denied. The decision was based off data from Credit Information Services.
I have gotten the bonus three times before. It has been more than six months since my previous account was closed.
Ouch. Good luck shaking that error. The only good news is that they don’t pull EWS or Chex when you get that error.
I ended up having P2 apply in branch to get around it. Banker got the back office involved to apply the promo code once the account was opened, but YMMV. Complete DP: #1924621
Schwab shows up as “Schwab Brokerage Moneylin”, and codes as Direct Deposit.
I got a mailer offer for $600, $300 for checking and $300 for savings. I tried to open online but was denied, most likely due to my address is new and not on my credit report. I had to open in branch. They also pulled by Chex.
My SO received a $600 offer with the same terms, but he would earn $3 for every debit purchase. It came with an offer code.
Account successfully opened for churn attempt using previous online login credentials. Wasn’t sure when submitting the application, received a message stating it was under review, but received opening email soon after. Debit card funding does not appear to have been successful. Will fund with DD or alternate method.
Uh oh. Sometimes when debit card funding fails, they close the account shortly after. Tread lightly & GL!

Oh jeez, I wasn’t aware of that, thanks for the heads up.. Guess we’ll see what happens.
Failed the online account enrollment. Always says to try again later after typing in the SSN and DOB.
Hit this bonus up last year, closing the account in August. Got another flyer and ready to churn, but other than the 6-month requirement I’m also seeing “One-time promotional bonus is available only to one individual residing at the address registered for this promotion”. Does anyone know if this is new? Just a tad concerned, as I could see this being used to prevent churning from the same address.
Funny enough I just threw out the old flyer from my records last week after doing taxes.
I would take that to mean it’s a single use code, and only residing at your address. Not that you, or anyone you live with, is excluded If they have received a bonus before.
