Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Citizens Bank One Deposit Checking Account $9.99 Monthly Fee ($300 Bonus)
The One Deposit checking account comes with a $9.99 monthly fee. Fee is waived by making one deposit each statement period. (According to this comment they really do count any deposit – even a transfer from another Citizens Bank account will trigger this.)
Citizens Quest Checking ($500 Bonus)
This account has a $25 monthly fee. Waive the monthly maintenance fee when you either: Make $5,000 in total deposits to your primary checking each statement period OR Maintain $25,000 in monthly combined deposits and investments
Citizens Private Client ($1,000 Bonus)
- Maintain $200,000 in combined deposits and investments to qualify
Early Account Termination Fee
As far as we know there is no early account termination fee.
Our Verdict
Let’s take a look at each bonus:
- $300 isn’t worth considering as you can get $400 online with similar requirements.
- $1,000 isn’t worth considering due to needing to tie up $100,000 to qualify
- $500 bonus might be worth it for some people, although others will prefer the easier to meet requirements of the $400 online offer
My gut feel is to just stick with the standard $400 bonus.

My 500 credit from this posted today 3/15. A push from amex biz checking counted.
How strict are they about enforcing the card being an exact address match? A family member at a different address who can’t use this gave it to me knowing that I’m a churner.
FYI got a mailer for this last week, expiring 3/21/24
Received a mailer for this offer, expires 3/7.
Anyone opened in July with USPS mailer offer received bonus ($300+$300) bonus yet?
Per timeframe attached to the offer bonus should have paid out by Nov 30, 2023.
Thanks
I went for the $500 deal (extra $100 and no 50x debits!). Very smooth opening in branch. My Chex was frozen and no problems. Last time I opened online and they pulled chex.
On the direct offer link, I don’t see any language about needing 100k or 200k for the 1k. Just 10k in deposits in 60 days. Am I missing it?
Thanks!
I think you need to check the requirements of being a private client.
None of these bonuses are better then $400 online bonus, the $300 bonus defiantly not, the $500 bonus is it worth to babysit the monthly fee and go to a branch for an extra $100 and the 1k deposit 200k nah.
on top: $600 postcard is easily achievable, even if you personally don’t receive one in your mail. Some people here picked one up at the Post Office as part of a “moving packet”
there’s $600 mailers that you can get on e-bay for like 3 or 4 bucks i recall.
But does anybody here know if those have to be targeted or can literally anyone that has those promo flyers be qualified?
Hello! I am pretty sure that you have to live in the same address that is listed on the $600 mailers. This is based on what I remember from reading the fine print/ what a customer rep had told me 2-3 years ago.
what sbout name?
Requiring direct deposits of only pensions, SS, paychecks leaves out a big portion of the population that have income from mutual funds and ETFs that generate monthly income.
Might be worth reorganizing this post as it seems the requirements may have changed
