Did anyone go for the Choice Hotels points packages today (4/29)? The 55K option was “unavailable” a few seconds after 1pm ET, but the 42K option was available so I was able to get 1 package. Hope you guys had good luck today 🙂

Same–55K was not available for me the entire time but I was able to get 42K, then 14K, then 28K during the first 15 min. It was a nail biter!! I did way better than I thought I would.

Good job, glad you were able to purchase the smaller packages. I guess everyone tried for the 55K package and didn’t look at the smaller packages.

Did you get the points? I’m still waiting, it’s like 10 days already.

Nope not yet. I check a few times every day. I don’t remember how long it took last year when I bought points but it seemed faster last year.

Deal I purchased (Marriott GCs) did not code as travel for chase. Coded as “Civic, social and fraternal associations”. A couple of blogs noted the purchases usually code as travel.

This is a data harvesting scheme.

As others have said, all offers were all claimed immediately. But I kept trying since it said someone might decide not to buy. Eventually I scored a $100 eGiftCard.

I legit don’t believe any of this shit actually went on sale. There is no fucking way all 1,000+ of the $100 were taken when most people were aiming for the $500.

I actually did manage to get a $500 Marriott card but had no luck with the others even when having my dad try to buy one on another PC. I refreshed until the Buy Now” option was clickable and autofilled my payment info and bought it.

Even tried the $200 and $100 1 second later. Also gone. There is 100% no way there were enough people waiting on EACH card.

Just a side note, that Marriott gift cards are extremely difficult to use.
You won’t be able to redeem them online.
Please check a fine print before you spend hundred dollars on them.

Why we cant use online?

A hotel room online can be “paid for” only using a debit/credit card. Once you check out, THEN you can ask to use a gift card instead. This will be no problem to do.

Can’t use them for the deposit or a pre-paid booking as you can’t use them online but for payments at the hotels they’re not a problem. Sometimes takes the front desk a few extra minutes if you have a newbie but that’s about it.

Agreed that these can be a serious hassle. A very experienced agent can process one in about 3 – 5 minutes on checkout. Most agents are not experienced and may even tell you they can’t do it or that you have to wait for a manager to take care of it. Just ask yourself if it’s worth saving $20 – $100 for something that could be very frustrating when you check out of your hotel.

what do these deals code as on credit cards? i’m guessing it’s through daily getaways rather than marriott, etc (so would code as misc or maybe online purchase rather than hotel or travel)?
