The Offer
- Delta has an unadvertised flash sale with round trip flights from 4,000 miles. Most of the flights are from SEA, but there are also discounted flights from other major airports.
Our Verdict
Use the monthly calendar to quickly view pricing and then you can go from there.

Thanks doc, made my grandma’s day who lives in los cabos!
:), love it
Heads up, I booked a sea to cabo trip the day this was posted and just checked again last night and it went down to 5k RT for basic economy. If you booked economy and up, you can get a refund in the difference.
VC which date did you book? i’m not seeing 5k
Booked for March. Seeing 5k RT for basic economy for 3/8-3/16
I understood SEA as South East Asia and was very confused to find only domestic flights 🙈
Atlanta finally has some decent deals to NYC, LA, Boston, Cancun, Miami and Vegas for under 15k points plus taxes. I got 90K from the delta gold deal to play with
Any way to know what’s available from the other cities? Thepointsguy says you can search all destinations from your departure city, but his trick doesn’t actually work. Does any one know a way to do this?
Was able to find this after I logged in: https://www.delta.com/us/en/flight-deals/skymiles-award-deals
Thanks. I’m bookmarking that one. FYI, I use the following page to find deals on AA (these days, you have to uncheck the partner search box). With variable award pricing, these search functions are very useful.
https://www.aa.com/awardMap/home.do
TPG provides the following instructions to find fares but I cant this to work ( delta website asks to enter a destination) Anyone got this to work ?
“To book, head to the SkyMiles Award Deals page at delta.com and enter your departure city, Don’t put in a destination, just hit the red arrow and see what comes up.”
whats a good redemption value for points? the flights i see selling for 4500 points also sell for $75.
Those are typically one way
I’ve gotten ~.02 per for Amex MR, before the panorama.
That’s a personal decision. Lots of people say first class redemptions are the “best value,” but that assumes you actually value first class at, say, 5x the cost of coach. For coach travel, I think you’re doing fine if you get 1.5 cents per point. So 4500 points for a $75 ticket isn’t a bad deal. You could obviously get better value on an “extreme redemption,” but that assumes you’ll find such a deal to a place you want to go at a time you can go.
At least 1.5 cent/point is minimum considerable value based on my research from January 2019. Remember, this is before COVID:
Formula:
cents/point = (lowest price currently offered by ANY airline – tax charged by Points Airline) / (points / 100)
example: ABC Airlines tax ~= $350; 50K points round-trip by ABC; $800 lowest offered by CDE Airlines
(800 – 350) / (50000 / 100) = 0.9 cents / point == $0.09 / point
