Delta has announced a number of positive changes/extensions:
- Elimination of redeposit fees for domestic award tickets
- Removal of 72 hour before departure deadline to change or cancel a domestic award ticket
- Extension of Delta Sky Club Memberships, select Delta SkyMiles Amex Card benefits extended further into 2021
- Sky Club memberships that were active as of March 1, 2020 will be extended until June 30, 2021
- American Express benefits will be extended through December 31, 2021 (e.g Gold $100 Delta flight credit, Platinum/Reserve companion certificates and Reserve Delta Sky Club guest passes)
The domestic award changes are permanent. Overall really nice changes by Delta.
American also did something new! If you had canceled any non-refundable flight, or simply didn’t show up, they’re giving you travel credits! It’s also applicable for award tickets. Go to your AAdvantage Wallet.
If Delta were to do so, I’d have 4 flight credits!
One of my flight credits is of a flight in May last year, which was a no show
Check https://www.aa.com/aadvantage-program/profile/wallet.
A bug seems to be enabling people to get credit for canceled flights even more than a year old!
Yet another good (and necessary) move by Delta.
Even though they regularly devalue their points and unfortunately stopped service to ASE, I still prefer them.
Wonder if they will reduce earning requirements next year for 2022 status.
My personal request would be allowing award flights to count toward status. I am swimming in points with no place to effectively spend them. I believe Virgin did this already. For Delta, that would add some value beyond the fairly mediocre SkyMiles redemption rates.
+1 on that. That would be game changer
“Permanent” means until they decide otherwise
You aren’t wrong, but isn’t that about as ‘permanent’ as anything gets in travel awards?
