If you hold a Delta SkyMiles Options credit card then you should have received a note stating that the card has been converted to the new Blue Delta SkyMiles credit card effective September 7th, 2017 (date this card was released). The new card is better than the SkyMiles Options card with the following benefits:
- No annual fee
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 2 miles per dollar spent at U.S. restaurants
- Â 2 miles per dollar spent on purchases made directly with Delta
- Â 1 mile per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases
- Medallion Qualification Dollar Waiver (MQD) until the end of 2017. Starting 1/1/18 spend on this card will not count towards the MQD waiver unless you have another American Express Delta card.
- Â 20 percent savings in the form of a statement credit on all eligible in-flight purchases when flying with Delta
- A welcome offer of earning 10,000 bonus miles after spending $500 in purchases on the Card within the first three months of Card Membership for new Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Member
- If approved you can get a minimum instant credit limit of at least $1,000 to use on Delta.com
- Foreign transaction fee of 2.7%
The downside is that having this card makes you ineligible for the sign up bonus on the Blue card (I presume you can get it at a later date but you can’t have or had the SkyMiles Options card in the last 90 days to be eligible). Not a huge deal considering it only has a 10,000 mile bonus.
Hat tip to reader stampman
The Amex blue plus business earns 2 points on everything and amex transfer to delta is 1:1 then swiping a delta card for points is not worthed.
Same goes with Marriott since 1 SPG is 3 marriott points. Using an SPG card at Marriott will get you 2 points which is 6 Marriott points.
wow, how old is this options card?
I’ve had mine since 2000. It was a downgrade from a gold card. Only keep it for credit history and Sync offers.
