I placed my phone number in the DO NOT CALL lists and I still get lots of telemarketing calls. Is there a way to sue them?
i’m surprised my phone number is not on the list when i check my #.
my # is on Do not call list but i still receiving tons of scam/spam calls,
so i try to answer every calls to waste their times with my fake info.
But have you received certain telemarketing calls from a certain DIRECTV dealer?
The scam/spam calls are almost entirely from call centers in other countries and they don’t give a damn about laws. (They’re violating laws in their own country, but law enforcement tends to look the other way, often due to bribes.) They also call numbers generated randomly, or just start with an area code and run through all possible number combinations. (Referred to as “war dialing.”) They also fake their caller ID, so blocking numbers doesn’t help much.
Wasting their time is good, especially for the scammers. Every second they spend on the phone with you is a second they can’t spend trying to scam someone who’s vulnerable to falling for the scam.
Maybe, if your state has a law that allows it. But you have to find the correct people/company to sue first, and probably 99% of the ones that ignore the DNC list are difficult to impossible to track down, and often in other countries once you do.
So effectively, no, there isn’t.
These companies get a slap on the wrist as the class action lawyers walk with millions, but remember that it’s YOU who may go to jail for filing a claim with your late grandparents’ old number.

This post is pointless. Most people have never even heard of the Do Not Call Registry, let alone registered for it.
You could spend a whole month brute-forcing random numbers and still get nowhere. You’re far more likely to win 5 stars from Starbucks or a free $5 rebate from a random beer company.
I think this post is probably intended for people who qualify legally for the funds, not for people who are likely breaking federal law trying to get a few bucks.
What is this federal law that you speak of?
in general, i would not recommend violating The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act 18 U.S.C. § 1030
No laws apply to Nigerian Princes anyway…
A few bucks? A FEW BUCKS!
Did you see the amount of that jackpot?!?!?!
This post is pointless. This is not a lottery where you need to guess a number.
“Most people” have never heard of the Do Not Call registry??? That was all the rage for years!
Absolutely. It was a failed attempt to get off call lists but an attempt nevertheless.
Do Not Call registry seems like common knowledge. I’ve never come across anyone who hasn’t heard of it.
FYI:
“You can get payment by a check or electronically through Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, and direct deposit.”
Man I’m like 99.9% sure I get their calls even though I’m on the do not call list. I even used to live in Ohio. Didn’t qualify though. Oh well.
It says it’s only for calls from a “certain DirectTV dealer,” so calls from other DirectTV dealers aren’t counted.
I can’t get past the stupid captcha
conclusion – you are a bot so you dont qualify
I saw this a few days ago and passed it on.
Tried my two numbers, no result. Just hope they aren’t logging numbers that aren’t on the list to make a new list.
Car warranty guys got shut down a while back. No information on actions.
Now we have the home warranty gang though.
You qualify for free solar, press 1 now!
Can we try random phone numbers and if we get a ‘hit’ can proceed to file a claim? :p
LOL, was thinking the same thing! Probably not worth going to jail over if you get caught.
haha true! 🙂
Now, if only somebody would go after the “Car Warranty” assholes, *this* would put a stop to it (and every person alive ever would get 0.0001 cents).
Why stop at 4th decimal place?
The only asshole here is *you*.
Do you telemarket car warranties? Please elaborate.
