Update 9/24/19: Reposting this since tons of people are starting to notice they got their IT card changed to Miles. Some got emails and some did not. You can call in to get it changed back. (They might tell you to wait a bit before being able to change back.)
Update: Looks like Discover often does this when they card hasn’t been active. You can call in and request a change back to the Discover it card.
Original post: @milesperday & @unknowntree have received an e-mail from Discover saying that their Discover it card will become a Discover it Miles, this is despite not asking for this product change to occur. I suspect this was sent out in error, but it’s possible that Discover is no longer allow people to have multiple Discover it cards. Having multiples is useful due to the rotating 5% categories, whereas the Discover it Miles is not useful as it only earns 1.5% cash back.
Jeez, i dont want the IT miles as my 2nd card. Paypal and amazon.com purchases are fruitful having 2 discover IT cards.
You guys know that Discover forgives $1.99 each month right? Protip: You should always be loading $1.99 of Amazon gift cards each month. No reason for the card not to be used. William Charles
It’s up to $2.00.

Call them, and they may help stop the conversion
I received this email and I just used the card 10 days ago. My spending on Discover is usually limited to the 5% categories. I sent them a secure message that I didn’t want to make this change.
Any idea what the rationale is for automatically product changing people’s cards due to inactivity? How does that benefit Discover?
They just want people to actually use the card
If this is the case I wonder if they give you the sign up bonus
Take a guess
My wife and I each have two “It”s. She got an email today about switch to It Miles for one, I did not. I don’t remember if I’ve used either lately. It is possible it is inactivity on one, but the bar must be pretty low as I can’t even remember the last time I used mine.
If it’s due to inactivity, then I think some people aren’t taking full advantage of the -$24 AF.
^ between discover, USB, wf, uber, cap 1 I don’t “have” a internet service bill.
Your internet is $10 a month?
$20. multiple US, discover and WF cards
wow… wells fargo also does the small bill cancellation? I’ve been hitting Cap 1 on a monthly but I didn’t know about WF… what is the max?

SamL Would you please teach how idiots like me can take advantage of the -$24 AF?
Samosa they’re referring to the small balance waiver:

Matt B Thanks! every time I visit DOC I learn at least five new things. You guys are amazing.
What is this? Seems like related to internet bills?
low balance cancellation. I run a bunch of those cards for $1-2 on comcast because screw comcast
Well you’re really screwing the issuer not Comcast, since they’re the ones who end up picking the tab. The only way to screw Comcast is to not pay, for which they will promptly unleash their goons sorry I meant collection agency on you.
It does cost Comcast more money to process multiple small charges. While I wouldn’t call that screwing Comcast, they certainly would prefer you not do that.
Only $20 for a Comcast internet bill? Must be nice to live in a city where they have competition. I pay almost 4x that
I guess some people don’t know what -$24 AF is so your comment is just pointless
Or the point was to help people learn things they previously didn’t know.
You can request to change back
Perhaps unrelated but, whereas last year they put out 5 quarters of 5%CB calendar (2018Q4-2019Q4) all at once, it’s nearing the end of that and no update to the calendar. Is It dead?!
I think they do it like November 1, at least that’s what happened in 2017 and 2018.
Received the same email and I do not currently have the Miles card. Last transaction on my IT card was back in Jan, not sure if this counts as inactivity.
