(Update 1/14/22: Just reposting this now given the new $900 bonus. It’s been confirmed again for 2023 that Chase is still matching bank bonuses for up to 21 days, not more.)
We know that Chase will match credit card bonuses for 90 days from applying. What about bank bonuses – will they match those as well?
A friend of mine just heard from Chase via secure message that they can change the promo code attached to the new account for the first 21 days after opening, provided the bonus has not already been credited.
Business checking bonuses can also be matched, both via secure message and in branch, according to reports in the comments here. It probably has the same 21 day timeframe.
We asked this same question back in 2015. At that time Chase did not match bank bonuses online/phone. Apparently, they now match for 21 days from when the account was opened by sending them a secure message with the new unique promo code. They can update the bonus code attached to your checking/savings account.
This question of Chase matching bank bonuses comes up often, and lots of people are asking it with regards to getting their $600 Chase checking/savings bonus matched for the new increased $900 bonus. So long as you get the unique promo code for the $900 bonus, it should be possible to have Chase update the promo code attached to your account. Please let us know your experiences with this.
Update 11/19/19: Based on the comments, it seems that using Secure Message is YMMV since it has to get escalated to someone who knows how to do it, and some have success (1), but not everyone. Going in-branch seems to work well. Some report it working in branch for up to 30 days.
On 7/11 I opened a chase total checking and savings using a $600 promo code that expires on 7/19. On 7/13 I received a targeted email offering me the $900 promo with a new promo code. I sent a secure message giving the new promo code and attaching a print to pdf of the email I received. This was Chase’s secure message response:
“Thank you for contacting us regarding the promotional
offer.
I will be glad to help you. I reviewed your account and
would like to inform you that the option to earn a total
of $900 bonus amount is not available.
You’re enrolled in the promotional offer to earn a total
of $600.”
I’ll be calling to talk to a real person, but just wanted to add this datapoint about asking over secure message. If I get matched via call, I’ll update. If not, I’ll try and go into a branch to see if someone can help, but I don’t know if I’ll have a chance before it’s too late.
does anyone have any recent DPs? I accidentally opened the $300 account only and not the 300+200+400….
Happy update to this story: I SM chase and they hooked me up.
So here’s what I did for anyone else in same boat and are stupid and click the wrong open account button.
1. I opened chase checking solo for $300
2. Panicked and opened chase checking+savings; coupon said it would only be applied to savings.
3. Now I had 2 checking accounts and 1 savings account. I was hoping they could just “transfer” the coupon from checking account 1 to 2. In hindsight I should have just opened a savings separately.
4. I SM Chase and they said they applied the $300 for checking, $200 for savings, and $400 for both for me on my new accounts.
5. My savings account is now showing bonus tracker whereas it wasn’t before.
6. Chase closed my extra checking account.
“xxxx, we submitted your request to add the coupon code
for the checking savings, and extra bonus on your account.
You’re enrolled in the following offers:
– $300 for New Checking
– $200 for New Savings
– $400 Extra Bonus”
Happy days for me then.
I was just about on the cutoff, maybe even a day or two over 21. I secure messaged Chase and was upgraded to the $900 offer.
My timeline for meeting the offer terms got pushed out from the day my offer was was upgraded. I already deposited the $15K into my savings account and now I don’t have to have $15K deposited until February 18. I’d like to withdraw that $15K and keep it in a HYSA until it gets closer to February 18. I wonder if Chase would consider that not really bringing in new money to the account or otherwise gaming their terms?
If I opened just a Chase Total Checking within that 21 day window (I believe fewer than 14 days ago) with the $300 promo bit didn’t open a savings account at that time, any experience with whether I can SM Chase to change to the $900 promo and open the savings account now?
Opened an account 01/11/2023 using the $600 promo code, found out about this promo a couple days after. The link for the public $900 offer didn’t work on my computer. I tried various devices, and it worked on one of my family member’s phone in incognito mode. Emailed myself the code, sent a secure message to Chase with the new promo code, and received a bonus match on 01/18/2023.
Just a quick DP from Jan 2023 – received a checking/savings bonus match 14 days after opening with no problem.
Thank you for contacting us. It’s a pleasure to assist
you.

Same
Data point – opened the account a couple weeks ago, I sent a message a couple days ago and received a response back that they couldn’t modify the coupon code on my account. So I sent a brand new message, and was able to get a rep that applied the $900 coupon code to my account. Not sure if it matters, but for the message that worked, I selected the savings account as the account with an inquiry.
Has anyone able to manage to signup/convince chase about the 900 offer after signing up last month for 600 offer ? (> than 21 days)
They’re strict about the 21 days. I tried for a match at 23 days and was denied.
