Reposting as this is still available, there is a similar offer but that requires a $50 purchase. Others recently received an offer but for only 1,500 miles total.
The Offer
- Signup for a free MyPoints account (a shopping portal) and receive 750 free United miles
- Use the MyPoints shopping portal to make purchases totaling $25 or more within 30 days and receive another bonus of 1000 United miles (you’ll also earn the regular MyPoints earnings on the purchase)
You can shop at eBay, Groupon, Walmart or any other partner found in the MyPoints shopping portal to get the extra 1,000 miles.
The Fine Print
- Please allow 6-8 weeks after completed qualifying activity for miles to post to your account
- Eligible purchases include any shopping or travel purchases (excluding Amazon.com, MyPoints games, Swappable gift cards and the MyPoints Store gift cards) of at least $25 each (excluding taxes, shipping & handling and special processing fees) made through the MyPoints.com website
- This offer is eligible for new members only
- Purchases must be made within the first 30 days of membership to receive the bonus reward
Our Verdict
This offer has been around a few times before, sometimes it’s 1500 miles and sometimes it’s 1750. If you never signed up for MyPoints before, it’s an easy way to net those free points. When I did this deal a while back, I got an instant email confirming the bonus points offer.
expired
The initial 750 posted immediately after signup. Went for 1000 with eligible spending but was not posted. Should have read the comments first, won’t use their portal again.
I don’t see the bonus miles offer when clicking to sign up.
I still see it
DP: signed up 5/13, 750 miles posted to my United account 5/14. Not going to bother with the extra 1,000 miles given all of the trouble others seem to be experiencing.
I created an account on the landing page you linked to today and never got a confirmation email…
I’d like to add a data point, and request that a line be added to the article (this being the 2nd such data point in the comments), that MyPoints has not been honoring the terms of this promotion. I have never had such an insanely difficult time trying to get points credited.
I signed up in the past couple months to get this promo and made a purchase to qualify for both bonuses (initial sign-up, first purchase). They issued United the miles for the initial sign-up, but for the additional 1,000 miles for the first eligible purchase, they have been stalling, replying with requests for information I’ve already provided (in the same support case), and straight-up not bothering to reply (over 2 weeks now) when they ran out of other stalling tactics.
I have used several different shopping portals for years. My experience with this situation and MyPoints has been, without a doubt, the worst I’ve ever experienced.
My experience mirror’s Kent. Had to ask for the 750, Didn’t get the additional. Frequent customer service requests required to make sure points get posted appropriately.
My account got disabled for some reason after creating the account and linking my mp account. I enquired via email and they want my drivers license but no response since then.
My 1000 United Miles is not posting, and MYpoints is refusing to deposit them, saying I need to contact United directly. When doing a little research for my BBB complaint, I revealed a familiar foe – Proedge LLC. What an absolute scam of a company. If there is a hell, these people are surely going straight there. No better than Indian IRS scammers.
Good to know that US scammers are better
My additional 1,000 miles posted.
“08/27/2018 Bonus miles for shopping with MyPoints 1,000”
Thanks Chuck!
My United miles were expiring in couple of months. Goo easy way to extend validity of my miles.
Note that the T&C state to “allow 6-8 weeks after completed qualifying activity for miles to post to your account”. Better check when your miles are expiring to make sure you have enough time.
Hopefully they get posted sooner. I did the 750 point signup and made a $25+ order on Groupon so hopefully I can see if they each post sooner.
Follow up post – the initial 750 point signup has already posted to my United account.
