eBay Limits Gift Card Usage To 4 Per Transaction

eBay reduced the limit of gift cards which can be used per transaction from eight down to four (here’s what is says now and here’s what it used to say). The regular limits of $1,000 per day and $1,500 per calendar month still apply.

Remember that eBay coupons and vouchers also count toward this limit, so if you’re using a promo code or eBay Bucks on the purchase you’ll only be able to use 3 gift cards.

Someone please explain to my why Ebay giftcards still require Paypal to pay with; and that if your PayPal gets shut down, your Ebay gift card values are held ransom with PayPal? How is that LEGAL at all.

Most things you can buy on Amazon are also sold on eBay, often cheaper.

You can actually see for yourself. The website is http://www.ebay.com. You need to use a web browser to look at it. You can even do it from the safety of your own home. Don’t be so lazy.

I imagine Steve is specifically asking what people are buying related to the context of this blog, ie miles and points, etc.
Don’t be so snarky.

I think the response was as snarky as the question and in this case the responder has put in more effort than the questioner …so I will vote for the response.

I have NOT used ebay in a long time. The competition is so much simpler and stream lined and less confusing. Using ebay feels wrong.

PayPal is annoying. No more annoyances. No more inconveniences. I use Zelle instead.

Zelle could come out with a credit card to compete with PayPal.

Stop the hassles

This must be a cash preservation tactic.

Back in the days you can buy eBay GC from Kroger and earn 5x-10x fuel pts. Redeem up to $2 off at Kroger or Shell gas station. You can also buy other GC with eBay GC with no limit. But paypal account was required.

I had a gamestop that let me cycle ebay to gs gc for about 6 months just because I gave them perfect scores. I ended up getting like 3 free new games

In my experience it’s been extremely more difficult to reclaim an eBay gift card payment than it’s been for a standard PayPal payment when returning an item to a seller.

Maybe if they’d let me use up all my small stupid remanents of gift cards I have leftover because sometimes they need me to use PayPal and sometimes not, this wouldn’t feel so stupid. Or using whatever large gift card I have first or…. eBay dumbing again.

And, Ebay’s “technology limitations” actually create this fiasco. If you’re buying, for example, a $49 item and have a $5, $3, and $50 GC, it won’t let you burn up the small ones even if you select them for payment. It will automatically take all $49 from the big card… thus leaving you with yet another low denomination stuck on a card. Jackasses.
