Our Verdict
Citi hasn’t sent out notice of this offer yet via email, but it’s working for people to enroll using the above registration link. Seems to be working for most/all people on most/all cards; worked for me on both of my Citi cards. Keep trying if you can’t get the offer to show at first; it should eventually show on each card. After enrolling, the button will change to ‘enrolled’. I don’t know of any way to track which cards are already enrolled; just take a screenshot at time of enrollment for good measure.
Should be easy enough to use this offer during the holiday shopping season. Hopefully any regular website purchase will work, and purchases paid for online with Paypal should work as well.

This offer is back today! I got an email with the targeted one-click enrollment link. This offer starts upon enrollment and will end on 11‌/‌30‌/‌2022.
Is there a direct link to the offer?
No, this was a card specific targeted link only.
BTW, I also have enrolled in the citi-paypal spend offer (Earn 5 Bonus Points per $1 spent – up to 3,000 points total). It’ll be interesting to see if both of these offers stacks for online purchases via paypal. I’ll give my DP after my september statement.
Yes, it stacked! I got total 9X points on $500 online order via PayPal (4x bonus for online purchases + 4x bonus for PayPal + 1x regular points).
No, it’s a targeted link for the specific card only.
This just popped up again on my Citi Diamond Preferred.
Same deal. Expires on 9/30/2021.
Do you have an enrollment page link?
Unfortunately no, it just popped up when I logged into my Citi app.
Had a statement recently close with an unexpected credit balance. Upon reviewing the transaction history, there was an “Online Purchase Bonus” credit that was equal to 5% of the total charges that posted on 12/1 (i.e. that didn’t previously qualify for the bonus). Not sure if Citi is running some sort of process to retroactively award charges that would have qualified based on transaction date rather than post date?
I had a terrible experience with Citi promo offers. Another restaurant 4% back offer posted after one billing cycle but this one hasn’t after two billings. Chatted with representative twice, last month and this month. No help at all. They confused it with regular cashback and it took me two hours to explain it to two agents. Then answer me with lots of unrelated things and finally just let me wait for next billing. Will definitely avoid any Citi offers in the future.
Good News: The credit posted quickly for the charges that qualified.
Bad News: The one week + online purchases restrictions made this less useful than it initially seemed since you’re often not charged until the purchase ships.
To contribute a data point I didn’t see already – purchased a physical gift card from Best Buy and paid with PayPal. The transaction did NOT show “Purchase Method: Online” (didn’t have any purchase method listed). Was expecting to have to fight for the credit, but it posted automatically when the statement closed.
I made a $500 costco gift card purchase on Nov 25th, but it didn’t post until Dec 1st. Web support chat said it didn’t qualify and couldn’t do anything. I called in and the CSR said the same thing. I insisted that I made the purchase on the 25th, so it should have counted. She said she had to call Costco to verify, while I stayed on hold for 10 minutes. I don’t know if she ever talked to anyone at Costco, but she came back and said that the purchase doesn’t qualify, but her manager would give me a $25 courtesy credit. I still don’t see a credit on my account, maybe I will have to wait until the end of this statement for it to show up.
Anyway, because Costco doesn’t charge the card until later when they ship, I will probably not try again to buy a costco gift card when there is an offer with a small date range.
I also got my courtesy credit. the first rep and her “supervisor” were Americans and they had a bad attitude. Of course, they denied the courtesy credit. So I called again off hours and I got the second rep who this time was Indian and very friendly and she gave me the credit. American reps are useless and unhelpful. If you don’t like your minimum wage job then go find something else to do. Don’t pass your misery and negative attitude to customers. I hope they completely outsource all these call center jobs to foreign countries.
As other said, The $25 credit posted on the night the statement closed for me.
Looks like credit applies at the end of your statement. Tried on two cards, one posted on November 30th and credited $25, other posted December 1st and nothing ¯\ _(ツ)_/¯ 2.5% boost still not bad, but if this reappears next year I’ll be sure to hit it Day 1.
Something weird occurred to me: I spent 500 (300 Kohls.com. 2×20 target.com,2×80 target.com) and only 2×20 spending got 2 credit. Also only these two got 4x promotion TYP. Chatted with CITI customer and they told me I need to call and this is a technical glitch. Anyone on the same boat? The number for our Account specialist team is 1-800-950-5114 (TTY : 1-800-325-2865). This department is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Exact same thing happened to me. I got 5 100 dollar target gift card deal. (5×80 and 5×20 charges). I got credit of 5 dollars only. Was expecting 25 dollars. I decided to give it few more weeks before calling Citi.
And same exact thing on three other Citi cards also.
