4/28 Enrolled
6/13 Completed ACAT of securities valued $500K+
6/13 Notice of promotion qualifications met
6/14 Bonus posted

I transferred in securities from three different brokers. Fastest took three business days, next four, and the slowest seven (after calling for manual re-submission due to inexact name match). Very impressed with the representative I spoke with who was clear, diligent, and remarkably competent. Overall a great experience–only an hour or two of effort for a $2000 pre-tax gain!

Regarding your conversation with the rep, did you call them or did they call you? My experiences since the around the time of the merger have not been great (but I’ll still take that money).

Is ACAT necessary? I just did ACH transfer of funds into eTrade. Hopefully I didn’t mess that up

ACAT not necessary (since this is a brokerage bonus most will be doing ACAT transfers to transfer assets in kind)

Since nobody bothered replying when I asked for info, here’s my DP. When I transferred <500k, nothing happened.

Once I made more transfers to reach the 500k tier, I immediately got an email confirming I met the promo qualifications along with the actual bonus once the assets making me reach the 500k tier posted to my account.

Also much appreciated. I enrolled and am about to ACAT equities in from two firms. Helps to know that it works when you combine different fund sources.

Impressed by how efficiently Etrade runs this promo:

4/29: enrolled in promo
4/29: received email confirmation of enrollment
4/29: requested fund transfer
4/30: received email confirmation of fund transfer
5/2: ACAT funds received in Etrade account
5/3: received email confirmation that promo qualifications have been met
5/3: received promo bonus in account!!

Thanks, Etrade.

Now I need to keep the funds in there for 6 months.

Which tier did you do? Seems like their terms say payout speed differs by tier.

Is there a promotion code for this bonus? I am not seeing it in the T&C but usually there is.

Promotion is encoded in the ‘Log on’ button on the offer page. (No specified code.)

Log in to your E-Trade account from the offer page and you’re presented with a screen to enroll.

Once you do, you receive an Inbox message and an email confirming enrollment.

Anyone complete a transfer and receive a credit (either partial or full bonus)?

Have done several Etrade offers in the past, but this is my first since the Morgan Stanley merger. Historically, I’ve received a partial credit in ~3 business days, but already a week since my transfer settled…

Did you ever receive your credit? Still waiting for mine too.

I already use etrade for investing (400/wk) so this should be easy. 60 days is 8 weeks so there’s 3200. Was gonna do 1800/8 per week but autoinvests only happen on tues. Apparently I missed the boat for next tues (which is 6 days WTF?) so that only leaves 6 investments. Did a weekly purchase of 1800/6=300 VTI to start on Apr 30. Caution: their ancient tech only allows you to cancel/modify autoinvests on Tuesdays.

I believe you can modify, pause, cancel your existing auto-investments anytime, but it sucks that the investment can only be done on Tuesdays, which is weird. Might as well do lumpsum or set limit orders for purchase

STAY AWAY GUYS! They tried to freeze my money for no reason. I got to withdraw on time & I hope my money makes it out. I saw multiple people on reddit talking about how they like to randomly restrict your account & make you jump through hoops for months. This reminds me of Fidelity when they freeze your account for large check deposits. Please protect your money from these crooks & avoid the nightmare. This the only time I almost got burned on a bonus.

You were depositing/transferring money (as opposed to securities), right?

It’s a brokerage bonus. I advise everyone to treat brokerage bonuses as brokerage bonuses and not as savings bonuses.

This happened to me in 2023.
I had a dormant account, and I transferred in money to get a bonus.

It was all fine until I tried to transfer money out after the T-Bills matured.
E*Trade insisted that I take photos of my driver’s license and passport to verify my identity.
I had to do it multiple times because the files I uploaded wasn’t “good” enough.
The photos were reviewed by software; not by a human.
Their employees had no empathy.
I have decided to bypass this.

I had an account. Now closed. My login still works.

When applying, it asks whether I’m an existing customer or new. Which should I choose?
