Good find but that 1 year hold kind of kills it unless you have no other options.

Hello everyone, I opened etrade on 08/16/2024, and the bonus posted on 08/22/2024, according to the terms, is the 6 month ends date 02/22/2024?

Details show that existing clients can do this offer too and must stay in the account for 12 months.

Existing clients have been able to do all the offers…just open a new account. But most of them only required a 6 months hold. Which is more favorable.

This sucks. One year AFTER the 60 days so 14 months to earn bonus. That’s lame.

Not sure I understand this deal correctly. Because of the 6 month hold period, say I opt for the 100k $600 bonus tier. Wouldn’t it just be better ROI to keep that 100k in a 4% HYSA for the better interest I’d accumulate in those same 6 months? What about this deal specifically makes it enticing at all?

Most folks either transfer in securities, which are earning interest, or invest in one of the many options E*Trade provides. If you just leave your cash in your E*Trade account, you will earn about 4%

Even better transfer in VOO and chill when there isn’t an account asset minimum requirement.

Cash in etrade only earn 0.01%. You need to buy a bond fund or tbills.

If you have cash, buy VUSXX in the account (free to buy/sell in ETrade), earn the money market interest and earn the bonus at the same time. But as others said, most people transfer stocks that they already bought in another brokerage and is not earning interest.

Most HYSA’s wouldn’t pay you $600 on top of the 4%.

If poeple arne’t transferring in securities, then they will buy a very short term treasury ETF like SGOV, or a money market fund like SPAXX.

P1 and P2 each still have two E*Trade accounts with some funds in them. If I’m reading the terms of the new promo correctly, it should be possible to withdraw those funds PRIOR to enrolling in the current promotion without having that count against the funds you add AFTER enrolling in the promotion.

https://us.etrade.com/promo/12500cfc-brokerage-020725

New funds or securities must be deposited or transferred within 50 days of enrollment in offer, be from accounts outside of E*TRADE, and remain in the account (minus any trading losses) for a minimum of six months or the cash credit(s) may be surrendered. For purposes of the value of a deposit, any securities transferred will be valued as of the closing price of the securities at market on the business day the deposit is received as reflected in transaction history. Removing any deposit or cash during the promotion period (50 days) may result in lower reward amount or loss of reward.”

No mention of withdrawals prior to enrollment or the start of the promo being available.

P2 received an email today for a bonus of up to $12,500 with $10M deposit. I was able to log in to my account with the link to see the offer so maybe it’s not targeted and is for existing customers.

The tiers start looking better at $500k+ compared to the public offer:

Account Deposit Receive Cash Credit
$5,000–$9,999 $50
$10,000–$24,999 $100
$25,000–$99,999 $250
$100,000–$199,999 $625
$200,000–$499,999 $1,000
$500,000–$999,999 $2,000
$1,000,000–$1,999,999 $4,500
$2,000,000–$4,999,999 $6,000
$5,000,000–$9,999,999 $7,500
$10,000,000+ $12,500

Offer valid for clients with an E*TRADE brokerage, non-retirement account. Clients must enroll in this offer by 2/7/2025 and fund within 50 days with $5,000 or more.

Remove all the stuff after the ? so there’s no referrer tracking

But yes I clicked “enrolled now” and almost immediately got the promotion enrollment email on my taxable account.

Remember this can also be used for Schwab matching if somehow you do not qualify for this ETrade bonus

Can this be churned? I opened Etrade account in February 2024, received the bonus and the account is still open.

Can I close it now and open a new one to take advantage of the promo? Is there a waiting period between account closure and opening a new one?

You can just get bonus on existing account.

as per terms and conditions: rewards under 100k will be paid under ”new account” column, the way i take it is that it should be the same amount, the only difference i noticed between both terms is that new account bonus is paid 7 days after initial deposit, for existing costumers is after the 60 days windows passed(so i hope) i did this offer as existing client 2 weeks ago and hope to get my bonus in about 4-5 weeks from today.

Does anyone know rules for withdrawing money that was in account prior to bonus? I had money locked up from early 2024 offer than did the next offer later in the year before 6 mo hold of first offer was up. Would taking amount i had prior out affect later promo?

Burton

I’m seeing a new round through 2/7 for adding funds to existing accounts when you log in. $50 for $5k, $100 for $10k, $250 for $25k then rate goes down a bit, all the way up to $12.5k for $10M. Have 50 days after enrollment to deposit, then hold for 6 mo.

Burton Does the offer show up on the first page when logging in? I logged in but didn’t see it. I wonder if it was targeted.
