Our Verdict
Nice thing about this deal is that it often works on things you might not expect like public transport passes as well as the obvious things like tours and museum tickets.
3 tips I learned from this deal:
* You can only use this coupon with 1 deal (the coupon box won’t be an option if you have more than 1 deal in your cart).
* You can create multiple Expedia accounts to get around the above requirement.
* You can go through Rakuten (3.5% CB) or other shopping portals to earn cash back.
Fyi Chase UR Portal does not allow coupon codes
One I can recommend (tho booked thru the Chase UR portal which uses expedia) is trekking in Colombia to la Ciudad Perdida- kinda like a less touristy Macchu Picchu. The only way to get there is to walk thru the jungle minimum 2 days each way. It’s difficult (steep, can be rainy tho my group went quickly and beat the rain each day, also can be hot AF and in direct sun at other parts, and skeeters!) but also about as chill as “camping” can get- massive amounts of pretty darn tasty food cooked for ya, bunks with nets, even beers and gatorade available at all the camps on the way. Just got back from this and definitely an amazing, amazing experience.
Did you do the 4 day or 5 day and what would be your recommendation?
I’m actually thinking about mid Feb, 2020.
Any other places you would recommend or stay away from?
Thank You and Happy Holidays!
Outdoor activities and points of interest in Colombia that is.
Thanks!
How long did you go to Colombia for? I was thinking 2 1/2 weeks.
Hey I did the 4 day. I actually had wanted to do 3 days, but wasn’t able to work it out, they don’t like to do it. It was a bit intense for me, but I landed in a group where literally everyone else had run marathons except the guides and me, guides said we were the fastest group in 11 years. I’m no stranger to hiking either, have done a couple thru hikes. That said most groups were not that crazy and it’s about as luxe as you could expect for jungle camps. If you’re just chillin do the 5 day.
I think mid Feb is end of dry season? So should be good.
Bogota was dope, there is hiking close to town. Usaquen Hilton is an amazing value @10k points. This is an upscale part of town, no problems walking around later in the eve. Ate at fancy restaurants every day including drinks for like $10-20/pp. Thought Nemocon salt mine was good, also any of the free walking tours.
Definitely need to go to Tayrona nat’l park- I did a 1 day sailboat trip from Santa Marta (tayrona sailing) but you could also stay in the park itself- various levels of crashpads from hammocks to ecohotels.
I heard really good things about Palomino and Costena beaches too. Also Salerno for trekking/chilling. Minca as well.
Colombia is definitely one of most cool places I’ve been to, cheap AF, awesome people and food and scenery, will go again for sure.
Huge thanks for the extremely helpful info.! I greatly appreciate it! You have a fantastic holiday season and thanks again.
