Seems to be extra targeted this year, ~320 trades in personal account and +250k balance and no go this year, had it the last 4 years. Does anyone know what the new thresholds are for the free turbotax offer?
Anyone who got the Fidelity free offer can clarify if both online version and desktop version include free filing of the state return? I know desktop version cost $5 to download and the download includes one state for free. But what I am not clear is if desktop version also includes free filing for state return. thanks.
No, the desktop version does NOT include state e-file. I mail them in.
It never includes free state e-file unless required by the law. Some states mandate that any tax return prepared using tax filing software must be e-filed, in which case TT won’t charge to e-file return of that state.

William Charles here’s a TurboTax deal that I found in a banner ad: If you file your taxes with the TurboTax app by February 18th, it’s free (only if you didn’t file with TurboTax last year.)
and it looks like everything is free even if you are a sole proprietor and maybe even the states are included?

The “free” link went live yesterday. The download version is available for $5.
The free TurboTax offer (placeholder) just showed up in my account today. It was just 25% off yesterday, so they may not be done with adding the free offers yet.
Same. I have a fairly sizable set of account balances at Fidelity, but am not categorized as Premium or Private Client service tiers presently (lacking the little “chip” you see on web on the upper right.
