Firehouse Subs Devalues Rewards Program

Firehouse Subs has announced a devaluation to its rewards program. The changes are going into effect on September 16, 2023. Points required are as follows:

  • 4,000 Points: Dessert
  • 8,000 Points: Small Sub
  • 12,000 Points: Salad
  • 12,000 Points: Medium Sub
  • 15,000 Points: Large Sub

Currently a medium sub costs 8,000 points. Wasn’t sure if we should cover this, but it might help some people.

Currently have 74K + points and I use to redeem points ( 50K) for Deluxe Platter and take to Health Care workers in my area. I noticed a couple of days ago that it appears this is no longer an option..is this true?

Email received today:

“Happy Holidays! Thank you for being a loyal Member of the Firehouse Subs® Rewards Program. We wanted to let you know there are some updates coming to the Firehouse Subs Rewards Terms and Conditions, taking effect on January 24th, 2024. Some of these changes include:

We stopped going to firehouse because of the nitrates in the meat but had 10k points and used them up the day before the change for one last time. Quality went down probably because of the churn of employees and prices went through the roof. I would not eat there again even if the rewards program stated the same.
One positive though was the new app now takes google pay.

Sad to see the changes to the free birthday sub. Not only are they requiring a purchase now, but some stores don’t even seem to be participating in the rewards program anymore. When I got my free birthday sub coupon in my account last month, I got a message saying that the reward was unavailable to me at my selected location. Meaning, some franchise stores must be opting out of the rewards program altogether.

I only have one location near me and I don’t expect them to stay open for much longer as a result of this. Their subs are good, but it’s a bad location, and they’re pricey for what they are. If you have a lot of points to redeem, I would use them now before your store decides to opt out of the rewards program like mine has if it’s a franchise store.

Some other great birthday freebies have gone by the wayside as of late as well, such as Red Robin and Chili’s, now both requiring a purchase of about $5 to redeem. Also, the Taco Bell rewards app sign up freebie is no longer churnable. Still, I was able to redeem almost a grand total of 20 completely free birthday items last month, so they’re still definitely out there.

My family prefers Jersey Mikes and Jimmy Johns anyways. I’ll cash in on 2 subs and delete account. One less app to manage. Thanks for posting.

I’m actually happy you posted this information today. I’ve been sitting on 12,000+ points for years and now I can redeem for 2 free subs before the devaluation! The Firehouse Hero is my fav! Thanks!!

My mom has the Red Robin rewards and they’re changing their free birthday burger program too.

In the past all these years it was a free burger with no restrictions as far as minimum purchase or dine-in/dine-out, so she would just order it online or order at the front counter to go getting nothing else. This year the fine print said that in order to redeem it, the order must be dine-in only with a $4.99 minimum purchase.

I saw that too. Had to order a drink and upgrade to garlic fries to qualify for the free burger.

I’m just going to get an appetizer and make a meal of it + fries, then take home the burger + more fries for a second meal.

Ruby Tuesday used to give a free burger for your birthday, but this year they only sent me a coupon for a free dessert. The number of places offering an actual free, or inexpensive, meal for your birthday has gone way, way down.

It’s . . . almost . . . like . . . . they’re trying to tell us something . . . about what happens when you have fiat currencies and no real representation . . . hmmmmm
