Lufthansa has announced that four USA based lounges will be added to Priority Pass. Unfortunately access will be restricted to certain times. They are as follows:
- The Lufthansa Business Lounge Detroit (DTW)
- 6AM until 5PM Mondays and Thursdays,
- 9AM until 5PM on Tuesdays
- 8AM until 5PM Wednesdays
- 6AM until 6:30PM on Fridays
- The Lufthansa Business Lounge New York (JFK)Â 11:45AM until 3:30PM daily, excluding Wednesdays and Sundays
- The Lufthansa Business Lounge Newark (EWR)
- 2:30PM until 5:30PM Mondays and Wednesdays,
- 2:30PM until 9PM Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- The Lufthansa Business Lounge Washington Dulles (IAD)Â 2PM until 5:30PM daily
The Detroit addition isn’t new, but looks like the timings have changed.

This basically eliminates the main extra lounges Amex Green LoungeBuddy credit covered…
I’ve been using the DTW Lufthansa lounge with my priority pass for the past 2 years. They had to cut back on hours and services cause of COVID. The employees there had to take a pay cut in order to come back to work as well. The hours might be less now just to keep them afloat
do Lufthansa Biz Lounges only serve chips+water?? any bar?
They may have a different spread available for Priority Pass hours, I know Virgin Atlantic does this with its lounges that accept Priority Pass during limited hours.
Virgin Atlantic doesn’t even have a spread for PP, unless you consider napkins and lemon wedges a spread. Have to order from the bar and food is delivered to your table.
And garlic spread
Back in 2019 I used the Lufthansa lounge in DTW multiple times with no restrictions for days/hours. Did they leave priority pass and then come back?
Also, the Lufthansa lounge in DTW isn’t that nice and it’s in a completely different terminal than the delta terminal (95% of the airport).
“2:30PM until 5:30PM Mondays and Wednesdays”
Why even bother?
Half of the open Star Alliance lounges at EWR also happen to be PP lounges. I foresee overcrowding.
The Dirty D (DTW) aside, the lounges have such limited hours. Additionally I’ve heard suggestions that service will be different. So during LH and *A hours they’ll have their regular service, then they’ll really cut back for PP hours. Point being it’ll be less like an airline lounge and more like a PP lounge, so folks shouldn’t get too excited.
Virgin’s Clubhouses have been on “lite mode” during PP hours: very limited menu, no showers, and only one restroom open.
