[Cancellation Reminder][Expired] Free Echo Dot with Sirius Subscription – Use AmEx Platinum Entertainment Credit

American Express added a $20 monthly entertainment credit for the Platinum card (requires opt-in), however it’s only valid for a few things such as Sirius, Audible, NYT, etc. Sirius currently has an offer to get $15 for 3 months, plus a free Echo Dot.

Direct Link to offer

Those who don’t care for the entertainment credit can use this as a backdoor method of getting an Echo Dot with the Platinum credit.

Be sure to cancel before getting hit with a charge that you’re going to pay for. See cancellation tip in this comment.

Thank god I used a burner card to get the free echo dot, no need to remember any cancellation date 🙂 🙂 🙂

Signed up on 7/30, no code yet. Anyone else in a similar boat?

I’m guessing this promo ended in July. I was waiting for my monthly AX credits to reset. The link here now leads to a $10.99 /mo streaming subscription with no Dot. I found links elsewhere for the free Dot, and they all lead to the same sad place now.

Anybody else experiencing the chat agents threatening a $50 early termination fee for cancelling before the trial is up? I signed up last week, got my echo dot, and now want to cancel since I don’t want to forget in 3 months. The terms on the offer page state nothing about an early termination fee, in fact they even say “You must cancel your subscription during your promotional period to avoid future charges”, however three different chat agents have told me I will be charged $50 for early termination and I can only cancel after my first charge in October.

I’ve frozen my amex plat just in case and told the agent to proceed with cancellation – let’s see if they actually do try to charge (in which case, time to report the card as lost/stolen)

The customer agreement linked to from the offer page does mention “cancellation fee” in two places. Go to the link below and search for that text:

https://www.siriusxm.com/phx/customer-agreement

Example: “In certain circumstances, a cancellation fee may apply, such as when you purchase or receive a radio or other device in combination with a Subscription at a discount.”

It’s general wording and doesn’t mention any specific amount. Whether they’ll be able to get away with charging that is iffy, but this is enough to make me pass on this.

If anyone tries to sign up for the promo twice using the same household’s credentials, I’d love to hear a DP on how strict they are with the 1 per household rule on the free Echo Dot. Please share here!

They’re not. You simply get a promo code for Amazon. I’ve redeemed close to 10 at this point between this offer and the last free trial + echo dot from several months ago and have not had any issues at all. Just be sure to use different emails for each signup

Signed up on 7/14, verified email on either 7/14 or 7/15, received the email for Amazon Echo Dot on 7/16. Redeemed on 7/16. Easy way to get an Echo Dot for free using the next-to-useless Amex Plat Entertainment credit.

May I ask when you signed up? and What’s the title of the email containing the free echo dot code? Thanks.

Sure, I signed up on Jul 12, and the email’s title was “Val, Your FREE Echo Dot is waiting for you. Redeem NOW!”
