Our Verdict
To make the most out of this deal, here is what you should do:
- Purchase 2x $200 gift card ($13.9 fee) -$13.90
- Use shopkick to earn points on your purchase (although some people have reported not earning kicks on gift card purchases)
- Use a credit card that earns rewards points. Your best options will be:
- Chase Ink Bold/Chase Ink Plus: 5x Chase UR points on all office supply store purchases (+2,070 Chase UR Points). Make sure your card is enrolled in the Visa Savings Edge program to earn an additional 1% back (+$4.14)
- Barclay Arrival: 2x miles on all purchases (+$8.23 if redeeming against travel or +$4.14 if redeeming against no travel expenses) and an additional 10% mile rebate (+$0.82) when you redeem them for travel.
- American Express Fidelity: Earn 2% cash back on all purchases (+$8.23), there was also recently an AmEx sync offer in which you could get a $10 statement credit if you purchase $100 or more at Staples. This offer is now over subscribed, make sure you keep up to date with the latest AmEx offers.
- Receive $20 gift card (+$20)
- Use Bluebird and Walmart to load your Visa gift card. You can then use your bluebird account as a regular checking account.
In the end you’ll make an absolute minimum of $6.10 (assuming you don’t use a rewards earning credit card for the transaction) and a maximum of $47.5 (assuming you use a Chase Ink card that is enrolled in the Savings Edge program and you value Chase UR points at 1.8¢) and possibly some ShopKick points.
This is an easy deal to make a bit of money from. It’ll really depend on how many times you can complete this offer to see if it’s really worth it or not. But it’s an easy $50 anyway, so why not take advantage of this deal. If you liked this, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter or RSS feed.
