- Paypal will reimburse the cost of up to 11 returns over the course of 2016. Up to $30 reimbursement for each return.
The Fine Print
- Expires 12/31/16
- Both purchase and return refund request must be made between 2/1/16 and 12/31/16
- Must activate benefit with your Paypal account – it is not automatic
- Refund is only for instances that the merchant does not offer free return shipping
- Must initiate refund request within 14 calendar days of return
- Must submit proof of return and of return shipping costs
Our Verdict
The $30 allowance is pretty generous and should cover most regular returns. Definitely worth using Paypal when buying an item that may need a paid return. Paypal ran this offer for a couple months over the recent holiday season, and it’s looking like this will become more of a permanent benefit of buying via Paypal Kudos to them for that.
I don’t see any restriction excluding resellers, and this should come in handy for them. The limit of 11 should be per Paypal account, so it can be pretty useful.
Remember also that Shoprunner offers free returns as well if you made a purchase using that service.

What if you use Ebay gc? Is that covered too?
Good question. I’m guessing that will be covered since it’s paid for entirely with Paypal. Unless they look at it like a $0 purchase (gift card deducts purchase cost) and then it won’t work.
Nice! Signed up and that’s what I got:
“for up to four eligible PayPal purchases worldwide until 1/31/16.”
Well, 1/31 is long over and 4 purchases is not 11…
JB – that is what my screen looks like too, near the top, but at the bottom: “Offer applies to eligible purchases made with PayPal on or after February 1, 2016.* Save your PayPal receipt.” “We’ll refund up to $30 of return shipping costs for each claim, for up to 11 refunds until December 31, 2016.”
Haha, I didn’t even notice that, but I see it now. Must be a hangover from the previous offer. I’d think we’re good though, just a glitch.
Does it apply to private purchases made directly via Paypal’s send money function?
Good question. I imagine that if you paid a PP business account and there was a 2.9% fee paid, it would be eligible. Can’t guarantee this.
