Update: You can now book!

IHG have released their new points break list, hotels listed can be booked for only 5,000 points. You can make bookings  starting October 31st, 2016. Keep in mind that the more popular hotels generally sell out pretty quickly. You can also book and get your points refunded as well.

Our Verdict

Only Intercontinental is in Cali, Colombia.  When I last went to Colombia it was recommended not to go to Cali, but that was several years ago so I assume the security/safety situation has improved. Nothing else really jumps out at me at being great value, but if you can get these properties to work for your dates then it’s great value. Let me know your thoughts on the list in the comments. Property in Jakarta usually runs for around ~$50 a night so nothing supersized there.

That is ridiculous. I had everything ready to go like 5 minutes after the rewards period started and poof, all Illinois hotels sold out! GRRRR

Thanks for the heads up. Great site! You’ve saved me $$ before and now again. Was able to book three Christmas eve rooms for 6 adults for just 15k points.

all dates sold out within an hour or so….I only got 1 of the 3 days I wanted…. 🙁
And I tried within the first 10 minutes….I’m kicking myself because I could have tried at 9am / 12pm est sharp.

There doesn’t seem to be an exact time, although it’s before noon EST. I usually start trying to see the 5K rates on a listed hotel about 10am EST.

Holiday inn express panama is a really good hotel IMO. It is new and modern. Prices are between $70- $120 a night
