[DEAD] Futurecard Adds Amtrak As 1:1 Transfer Partner

Futurecard has added it’s first transfer partner in Amtrak with a 1:1 transfer rate. You do need to transfer a minimum of 5,000 points at a time. Normally points are worth 1¢ each, Amtrak points are normally worth more than 1 a point so could be useful for some people. For hose unfamiliar the Future card earns at the following rates:

  • Trains, buses, subway, metro, light rail & commuter rail
  • Online marketplaces for gently-used clothing & thrift stores
  • Electric vehicle charging
  • Bike shops (bikes, ebikes, cycling accessories and repairs)
  • Electric scooters, mopeds and bikeshares

They also frequently have 100% back deals on different metro programs. Our full review here.

Via Email:

> We regret to inform you that Amtrak Guest Reward Points are no longer available in our rewards store. However, we do have many other fantastic rewards you can redeem with your climate points in the meantime.

I did the transfer, got confirmation from Future a few days ago, and got confirmation from Amtrak today. Interestingly, Future transferred 4500 Amtrak points to me which came with a 900 point bonus, resulting in 5400 points total. Points have made their way to my account.

Pretty awesome for heavy Amtrak users. This no AF card now has higher ros than the $95 Amtrak card

Does the card still earn 1% on everything post “upgrade”?

Just signed up and don’t see the Amtrak transfer option under the rewards tab. Is it somewhere else?

Wondering the same, not particularly user friendly app.

So is it a checking account with a card w chex inquiry, or it’s similar to a target card, when you have to connect to your checking account?

Don’t think they pulled Chex, but it’s a new checking account at Piermont Bank.

Got the new debit card in the mail today. Different BIN, I see, but same Piermont Bank issuer as before. So not really sure why they sent out new cards.

The app looks pretty much the same, but I see new 10% on bicycle categories, 5% on electric ridesharing, and 10% on EV charging.

Besides the Amtrak redemption option, I see now that they’re offering a $30 thredUP gift card for $10 (1,000 points).

Definitely seems like their “upgrade” was actually an upgrade, not some dogsh*t wrapped in catsh*t.

I’ve been earning 5% for my city water utility (Durham, NC), and for the power bill for my government-sanctioned monopolistic, Mark Robinson-supporting electricity provider (Duke Energy). Not 5% on Spectrum Internet bill.

FWIW, I uploaded the new card and app yesterday; tried using my new card at the NYC “OMNY” turnstile this morning; and it told me the new card was invalid, so… thanks Futurecard, lol.

It worked for my Arcadia bill and citi bike purchases yesterday (permanent 10% off on citi bike now which is nice, beats buying Lyft gcs)

I updated my banking information at my utility company’s website to my new Future account number and noticed that the routing number changed as well. Googling the number shows me it’s Piermont Bank’s routing number, so I don’t know what the previous one was.

I’ve been using this card to pay for my public transit and utility bill. I get 5% automatically for the public transit, and for the utility bill I send them an email with my payment receipt and they give me back 5% in a few days. I have to do the utility bill manually because I pay via an ACH transfer to save on fees using debit cards. I keep a near $0 balance on my account, just funding it with an instant debit card reload as needed.
