[Expired] Get 250 Starbucks Stars with Free Spotify Premium 60-Day Trial

Deal has expired and is no longer being offered, view more Starbucks deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

Starbucks partnered with Spotify for the following offer:

  • Get a free 60 day trial on Spotify Premium for free and receive a Star Code redeemable for 250 Starbucks Stars.

250 Stars gets you any two free items at Starbucks (assuming you are already Gold).

The Fine Print

  • This Offer expires February 21, 2019.
  • This Offer is only available to users in the United States who haven’t already tried Spotify Premium or Unlimited, or taken a trial (excluding the 7-day trial).
  • Fee of $9.99 starts after 60 day trial.
  • Star Code will be delivered by email 3 days after signup.
  • While supplies last (74,215 uses available).
  • You must redeem the Star Code by July 19, 2019.

Our Verdict

A 60 day Spotify free trial is the standard offer – this signup offer also gets you a bonus Star Code redeemable for 250 Stars which is sweet. Many of us are not eligible for this deal due to the recent Spotify Premium – Google Home deal or previous Spotify – Starbucks deals. Previous deals only offered 125 Stars. There is currently a Starbucks Hopscotch game as well.

Be sure to cancel before the 60 days are up if you aren’t interested in the paid subscription.

Has anyone gotten their codes yet? I signed up on Tuesday and still haven’t gotten anything

It seems if you received am email from Spotify with subject line ‘Spotify Receipt’, then you can expect the email with the stars to come 1-2 days afterwards (the codes seem to get sent out at a particular time each day, and if you signed up after like 3 pm Pacific, you are placed in the next 24 hour block and have to wait 2 days). There are some people claiming that they never got a confirmation email from Spotify after signing up, and they ended up not receiving the star codes even after waiting 3 days.

Any rumblings on Starbucks increasing the amount of stars needed for rewards? Friend of mine got the 250 for this promotion and in his app it says “Earn 21 stars (they are at 280), you’ll reach Gold level. As a Gold member, every 300 stars you earn can be redeemed for a Reward.” Is this just a typo on Starbucks app?

Edit: Terms online still state “Gold members will earn 2 Stars for every $1 spent at participating Starbucks stores. Once they collect 125 Stars, they can redeem them for a Reward”. Hoping just a typo/glitch.

Can you use multiple star codes for 1 Starbucks account?
I don’t have Starbucks Gold so I need to add 2 codes to get to 200Stars (250+250 – 300 needed to become Gold) and get at least first drink free.
Or is there some other option how to get Gold so that you can use the code to get drinks?

Periodically they offer a deal that you make a single purchase get gold, which annoys those of us that worked to get and stay gold 🙂 but that happens once or twice a year and no real way to know when. If you’re not into Starbucks and are just trying to get a free drink, you can always sell the codes.

I signed up several times with different emails (different device or fresh private window each time). Citi Virtual cards, Privacy cards, registered VGC , and Chime cards are not being accepted for me anymore. They worked for my first 3 signups, but to get the 4th and 5th one done I had to use a real CC. The system probably didn’t like multiple new signups from the same IP.. I’ll be working remotely from a different IP this morning, so I’ll try another signup from there and see if makes any difference. Note, I wouldn’t create more than 3 Privacy cards for the same promo, or Privacy will send you a message warning that you can’t have multiple cards stored with the same merchant “to prevent abuse.”

Seriously, I’ll be pissed if I don’t get my one bonus I signed up for within the terms because of these jackasses creating 10 accounts. I’m all for bending rules and maximizing return (that’s why we’re here), but why put so much effort into violating terms that clearly limit it to one per person?

I don’t get it either. It’s bad enough that people do it but then brag about it like it’s no big deal.

I made it through 9-10 signups yesterday all with BofA shopsafe virtual card numbers and all from the same computer/browser. Not sure if there are other issues with Citi or VGCs

What email addresses did you use?

So Spotify has some fraud detection algorithms I think. I faced a similar roadblock when I was trying to do this for the Google Home mini. One thing that worked for me was simulating a mobile phone browser through Chrome developer tools, or just use your phone, and signing up via incognito. I do believe that copy and pasting the numbers also gets the algorithms ringing.

So incognito on the phone / simulated phone browser, while typing out the numbers. And oh, using a real email address and not mailinator/opayq/33mail ones.

I’m inclined to agree. However, I just find it funny that people on DoC where a large number of visitors spend time maximizing manufactured spending and unofficial coding errors in credit cards and bank systems (AMEX airline fees, funding bank accounts without cash advance, gaming direct deposit systems) are judging us 🙂

from the email: “Once you redeem your Spotify Premium trial, Spotify will send an email to the email address you provided upon registration in 3 days with your Star Code and instructions on how to redeem your Bonus Stars.”

Essentially you could keep creating emails and getting more codes to add to your primary Starbucks account. Draw back is going to be the number of open credit cards you have. As long as its a new email address and a new credit card without a previous Spotify charge, the 2-month trial will be recognized as valid.

There’s a reason Chuck didn’t mention that obvious information. It’s wise to keep these tricks somewhat under wraps. Most people on here should know how to create multiple card numbers and email addresses very easily.

“Many of us are not eligible for this deal due to the recent Spotify Premium – Google Home deal or previous Spotify – Starbucks deals.”

Not so fast. Open the Offer link in an Incognito/Private window. Use a different email address and payment card to sign up than you did before. Seems to have worked for me. (I tried using the same card I had previously for giggles and it didn’t allow it. Changed cards and it went through.)

You will need to enter CC info. For stuff like this, I use a registered VISA Gift Card that has zero balance. I just entered the info with cc/exp date/cc security code/zip code and Spotify accepted the information. If I forget to cancel in 2 months, there is no loss because the gift card is at a zero balance.
