The Offer

Direct Link (login required)

Amex is sending out an offer to get bonus Hilton Honors points on the Honors card and the Honors Surpass card for adding authorized users (AUs). While the offer is only sent out to some, it seems to be working for everyone using the link above.

  • Get 10,000 points per AU on the Honor Surpass card after the AU spends $1,000 within 3 months; maximum of 4 bonuses for a total of 40,000 points
  • Get 5,000 points per AU on the no-fee Honor card after the AU spends $500 within 3 months; maximum of 4 bonuses for a total of 20,000 points

The Fine Print

  • Add an Additional Card Member to your Account through the promotional application page by September 30, 2017 and you can earn 10,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after the new Additional Card member spends $1,000 in purchases on their new Card in their first 3 months of Card Membership
  • The Additional Card Member’s SSN and DOB are not required to submit this request. However, this information must be provided by you or the ACM within 60 days after the Card is issued.
  • You can add multiple Additional Cards to your Account, but they must be added by September 30th, 2017 through the promotional application page, and a maximum of 4 bonus offers will be awarded per Basic Card Member Account
  • The 3 month period for an Additional Card Member to spend $1,000/$500 starts on the date that the respective Additional Card Member is added
  • If you add multiple Additional Cards to your account, the first four cards that reach the spend threshold in the 3 month time period, regardless of when you added them during the promotional period, will earn you the bonus points offer
  • The maximum number of Hilton Honors Bonus Points you can earn as part of this offer is 40,000/20,000
  • Your purchases as the Basic Card Member will not count toward the $1,000 spend requirement; purchases made by other Additional Card Members on your Account will not count toward the $1,000 spend requirement
  • There is no annual fee for additional Hilton Honors Surpass Cards

Our Verdict

Amex sends out these AU offers on many of their cards, you can see a full roundup in the post American Express Authorized User Bonuses – List Of Offers & Everything You Need To Know, and we’ll add this one to that list as well.

Keep in mind that an AU card will count against the 5/24 of that person.

Your direct login does not work, says connection may not be secure and attackers may steal the sensitive information.

WHAT is Going On?

What about the AMEX HILTON honors card to get 75k points yet already recently received 50k points should you wait for a confirmation before spending the additional $1k to get the additional 25k points?

If you add someone, but don’t add their social security number, and they meet the min spend before the 60 days. Does anyone know if:

1) The bonus would post? Didn’t know if others had experience on other cards.

2) Would it affect 5/24? Thinking if I add my parents (with their permission) who are under 5/24, meet min spend then have the card get cancelled – would the bonus post? Then it would hopefully avoid it counting toward 5/24.

May try #2 with one person just to test, but was curious if others had done it before. Thanks!

Do they check the signature of the AU to see if it is actually THEM using the card?

I didn’t receive an email, and I’m never targeted for these things, but I selected my regular HHonors card and sure enough it brought me to this 5k bonus page. Now to find 4 people willing to give me their SS#. Should be close to impossible.

Logged on with link, 3 cards available personal plat, and both Hiltons, I already have AU’s on both Plat and my no fee Hilton my twin girls 17 and my wife that’s way over chase 5/24, one more card is a drop in the bucket with my wife but my kids are under 18 will this mess them up next year when they are going to harvest chase cards? I’m planning on building credit for them secured loan, a store card then on to chase with premium card(s) I hope adding underage AU’s do not count for chase 5/24 only cards after 18 years old?

I really don’t know why you’d take the chance.

I don’t think anyone knows if Chase would count cards before 18, but I would suspect if they’re on a credit report, they would.

Seems a ridiculous risk compared to what they’d get off a Chase 5/24 bonus. 5k for AUs on a no-fee Hilton card is only worth about $30 in points.

What’s a Chase 5/24 sign-up bonus worth? I’d argue something like a CSP or United card would be worth $500-750.

So, even if it was a 25% chance they counted, you’d risk $500-$750 for $30?

I wouldn’t even think twice about getting them for my minors given the scenario.

Thanks for your 2 cents, I agree. since the age 15 my girls have discover, CSP and 2 amex cards, turning 18 this December add 6 months before attempting premium chase card(s) I want them to have a good base when they turn 18 yet I can’t put them on to many cards… i was thinking mix of banks is positive on credit reports

obligatory reminders:

1) any AU will have this count against their 5/24 for Chase purposes

2) adding a bunch of AUs can often trigger an Amex Financial Review that aren’t fun

Not a bad deal on the Surpass, but to me not worth the potential hassle on only 5k (approx $30 value) for AUs on the non-fee cards
