In case you missed it, Barclaycard is currently offering a sign up bonus of 50,000 points on their Arrival Plus card. This is worth $525 towards travel expenses. A lot of readers had recently applied when the bonus was at 40,000 points and were hoping to get matched – unfortunately they were told that this wasn’t possible. But if you ask to speak/escalate to a supervisor then it is possible to get matched. It’s not a sure thing that they will match you to this offer, but it is possible.
Having a history with Barclaycard and recent spend on any existing cards seems to help (as it does with most things when it comes to Barclaycard). Please feel free to share your matching experiences in the comments.

Applied during the 50k promotion (September 23). Only received 40k yesterday and was told that there was no promotion going on at the time and that they couldn’t match. I plan on escalating but this is very annoying. I specifically saw the 50k language before applying.
Any idea how long the 50,000 point promotion will last?
Can i apply for both barclay arrival plus for 50k bonus and barclay hawaiian 50k bonus offer on same day/same time and be approved for both these bonuses?
Is there any restriction/limitations of applying for barclay credit cards?

Varies from person to person, once every six months seems to work for most people.
Called and spoke to a Supervisor a 2nd time after reading this post. Rejected again.Rejected by SM, frontline rep, supervisor, frontline rep again, supervisor again. Oh well!
Card opened in April, received a NO for match request via SM. Called in and front-line csr declined my request again. Transferred to a supervisor who said no and read me a LONG statement on their no-match policy because they’ve been receiving lots of match requests lately.
No courtesy points as well, despite my heavy spending on the card, but the supervisor did dig a bit further and offered me a 0% APR on purchases till next June. The offer could have been there all along, who knows.
Applied using what I thought was a 50k link a few days ago after closing my first A+ in August. Auto-approved. SM’d to confirm offer, was told I’d only get 40k. Called, spoke to supervisor, told to wait 7-10 days for an investigation.
Rather odd since I am explicitly not asking for a match but for the 50k I applied for; maybe there’s something funny going on with affiliate links. Will consider escalating to Twitter/CFPD if they deny after “investigating.”

The real news is that they don’t have a matching policy, unless you keep begging and complaining.
Did you read the post? The news is that you need to escalate to supervisor to get a match. Most people would usually give up without escalating.
I just got this card 2-3 weeks ago and am still working towards the spend requirement for the 40K. I called tonight to ask for 50K match and escalated to supervisor. I got an immediate rejection again and an apology saying that the Barclays bank mothership has made a firm stance on no matching offers to anyone. Clearly there are exceptions, but they appear to be very few and far between.
Although calling a supervisor worked for me with the caveat she was also trying to appease me for an error they made, she did not technically match the offer as she said she would. Saw yesterday she simply posted an additional 10,000 points to my account. I am still in the process of earning the 40,000 point bonus. So….. Even better!
But my data point is a bit tainted as I asked for a match at the same time I accused them of a potential data breach.
Called today to match bonus. Front-line rep said they wouldn’t match and transferred me to a supervisor in the rewards department.
Supervisor told me that Barclay’s has received a ton of match requests and that reps are being told to give out case numbers, and that they should have a resolution within 7-10 business days and to follow up then.
Supervisor told me to wait 7-10 business days and check if the 10k match is applied to my Arrival+ account.
She said there is no guarantee they will match the bonus.

I recently downgraded my Arrival Plus to Arrival (no AF). Would I be eligible to apply for the Plus and get the bonus again?
You need to close the Arrival CC first and then apply for the Arrival+ CC.
