    •  Giant Eagle online is offering a $250 Southwest gift card (electronic or physical) for $230.

The Fine Print

  • Valid through 8/12/20.
  • No stated limit

Our Verdict

I believe you’ll also get fuel points, helpful for those in the area, but the deal could be interesting to anyone as it’s available online. Looks like these purchases might earn grocery store bonus points on the credit card which is sweet.

Just a heads up, GE online purchases DO NOT categorize as grocery stores. They use to in the past but haven’t for a while now.

Same issue with click to pay and credit card for giftcards.gianteagle.com. “Our system can’t complete your order. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.” Completely dumb.

GE has not run a good, repeatable in store promo for the $200 VGC in over a year, correct?
I have previously noticed ‘buy online’ for 2x points deals but never played that game… what do they do, mail physical cards?
I am tired of paying for fuel at the .10/gal per $50 spent rate… thanks

Hmm… if you have a Chase SW card currently earning 5x on groceries, and stack with the 30% Rapid Rewards bonus, and value SWRR at 1.3 CPP, a $230 purchase is worth about $19 in SW airfare? So this deal is ~$270 airfare for $230?

If you live near a Giant Eagle you can also purchase the gift card at a Get Go and it will code as gas (great for Freedom 5%).

Spending $230 will earn $0.40 off a gallon of gas up to 30 gallons = up to $12 in free gas.

“Our system can’t complete your order. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.” Trying to buy from an area that doesn’t have Giant Eagles.

It does not work for me either.

Or you can live pretty much next to Giant Eagle and it never accept any order online from you — no matter what card or Advantage account you use. When I email them they uselessly respond ‘We can’t tell you why it doesn’t work, you can still buy it in store’. Just a poor ecommerce site (and not that great a grocery store either)

This has been happening to me too lately, but I never got around to speaking with their customer support. Is this fairly widespread? Their new checkout system online seems to be fairly new from a few months ago.

Same. I used to buy gift cards all the time online, but it has not worked for me since last year. I called and they said they would call me back, but never did. I tried numerous credit cards but nothing worked.

I have the same issue. Our system can’t complete your order. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. SO annoying especially since I do not want to go in a store.
