The Offer
Stop&Shop, Giant, Martin’s (page 10)
Giant/Stopandshop/Martin’s have an offer
- Get 3x fuel points on the purchase Mastercard gift cards.
- Get 10x points on Apple gift cards.
Gift cards generally don’t earn fuel points at all at Giant/S&S/Martin’s, but occasionally they release offers like this to get points on gift card purchases.
Gas Points Details
Every 100 points gets you 10¢ off per gallon at Shell, up to 20 gallons. If you have 1000 points, you’ll get $1 off. If you have 1500 points, you’ll get $1.50 off per gallon (max $1.50 discount in most). Points can be used at partner Shell locations.
Points are now usable on groceries as well, with a value of 100 points equaling a $1 discount.
- You have 30 days to select whether you want to use the points on gas or groceries, then 30 days to actually use them.
- See the FAQ for more details. Some of the details vary by area and store.
- Points usually are available immediately, but I’ve had on occasion where it took a day until they showed up and were usable.
Our Verdict
Given that points can be used to discount groceries as well these deals are more widely useful. Use a card that earns a bonus at the grocery.
Note, many SS/Giant stores have implemented a $2,000 limit in gift card purchases each day (previously the limit was $5,000). They also require putting it all on a single card. Also note, some SS/Giant stores now only award points for the first purchase of the deal, so be sure to buy the full $2,000 worth in a single transaction.
Hat tip to GC Galore
Date on this article is “June 22, 2021, 08:00”, *june*. Current promo is for Visa, as has been mentioned by other comments… (not a complaint, just one more error(?) that adds to confusion a bit) I appreciate that these notices are posted since it helps me keep track of the promos without reading every week’s circular 🙂
Yeah, Chuck’s brains already went on vacay. Visa cards are on promo, not Mastercards.
The 3X for July 23-29 is for Visa Gift Cards, not Matercard.
Misleading. It’s for Visa cards. And no apple either
The offer next week is for Visa gift cards, not Mastercards.
CORRECT, thank you!
Let me fix, thank you
Opps lol
Is there a limit to redeem the grocery dollars in stores? For the first time, I tried to redeem my grocery dollars in PA. The cashier called the store manager since the total is over $100. The manager said a new policy limit for grocery dollar redemption. She let me go thru since it’s my first redemption.
There is a certain threshold that requires an over-ride, I’m not 100% certain but I believe it is indeed around $100. If you do self check-out you can just split it into two separate transactions.
except if your total is zero (or negative, possible with clipped coupons) at self checkout that also requires manager override. So buy something small taxable (rewards don’t work on tax) on each split up transaction. Use a citi rewards+ for the 10 points on $0.10 purchase.
My local S&S ad has the following language, which I think is new: Bonus points can be earned up to $2,000 in gift card purchases per week, per household.
My local S&S shows “only one card”. In past I did twice on different days in a week and got the points. Will try again this week.
Is that language in the printed circular?
Second transaction to the same account did not earn any points today…central NJ.
Finished shopping in the morning, points is still not showing up in my account in the afternoon, actually it is not even shown up on the receipt… This is the 2nd time happened to me, last time spent quite a lot time on the phone with customer reps. Anyone had experience on this? I’m in MA. Thank you!
The points can take up to 24 hours to post, and they usually don’t show up on the receipt for me either.
Thank you, will see and update back.
If you bought just the GCs, it will be pending for less than one hour and nothing on receipt from my experience.
But if it’s with groceries, sometimes pending sometimes showed on receipt. I’m in CT.
I always buy a small grocery item with the cards, in order for the points to show on the receipt.
