Stop&Shop, Giant, Martin’s (not yet showing)
Giant/Stopandshop/Martin’s have an offer showing in their circular for November 29 – December 5:
- Get 3x fuel points on the purchase Visa gift cards.
Gift cards generally don’t earn fuel points at all at Giant/S&S/Martin’s, but occasionally they release offers like this to get points on gift card purchases.
The Fine Print
- Valid 11/29/19 – 12/5/19 (starts Friday)
- Must use store card to get and use the points
- Be sure to double check that your local store is running this offer before buying
- “We now accept credit cards for the purchase of Visa, Mastercard, and American Express gift cards”
Gas Points Details
Every 100 points gets you 10¢ off per gallon at Shell, up to 20 gallons. If you have 1000 points, you’ll get $1 off. If you have 1500 points, you’ll get $1.50 off per gallon.
- Max discount in some areas is $1.50. In other areas, there might not be any max.
- You have 30 days to use the points. The day of purchase is Day #1. (Giant PA and Martins might expire at the end of the following month.)
- Points can only be used at partner Shell stations. You can redeem the points in a different area from where you got the points, but only if that Shell station is a partner. Check out the gas locator for Stop & Shop and for Giant for exact listings of which Shell stations are included. (Giant PA and Martins might only be valid at their own gas stations.)

- Points usually are available immediately, but I’ve had on occasion where it took a day until they showed up and were usable.
- Pro tip: Use a Shell gift card and you’ll usually get the cash price; it’s especially worthwhile to get the lower cash price when using fuel points.
Our Verdict
There’s an ongoing deal through the 28th to get either a $20 voucher or 5x points on third party gift cards; that deal does not apply to Visa/MC. When that deal ends, this one begins, and some people might prefer to wait and stop up on points with the Visa deal starting Friday.
Some are saying this might be the final Visa gift card deal until March. Use a card that earns bonus rewards at the grocery.

Verified this is working at S&S CT and not in the circular.
I stopped by my S&S and saw a sign saying “Effective immediately, we will only accept cash/debit for gift cards.” Has anyone else seen this? I could travel to another location one town over…
I was able to purchase VGCs with a CC at my S&S in CT yesterday, however, the cashier did not let me today. They said cash/debit only. Not a good sign.
For those not having issues, 3x gas points are posting despite the deal not shown in the flier.
Bought VGC with a CC yesterday. I asked the cashier about this policy and they said they had heard nothing about it. It might be a case of fraud which shook the manager. Fraud is more common this time of year.
15x gas points on Disney, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, and Happy Moment this weekend (11/29-12/1).
Also, at Market Basket (MA, NH, ME) there’s a promotion TODAY ONLY (11/29) for 20% off select gift cards with a limit of 2 per brand and $500 max combined purchase. The two ones that stood out were Kohl’s and Bed Bath & Beyond which might be useful depending on bulk seller rates. The full list is: ULTA, Michael’s, LL Bean, Cabela’s, American Eagle, Spafinder, Kohl’s, Happy Eats, Happy Dining, Buffalo Wild Wings, Domino’s, Phantom Gourmet, and Bed Bath & Beyond. I sent both offers on Wednesday but I don’t think they ever got posted. I figured maybe some of the ones at Market Basket could be useful getting 20% off if you’re already set with tons of gas points and grocery money. I’ve had 10% CB through Cash App (up to $75) at Market Basket which is good if you only want a small denomination gift card.
Confirmed that the Stop and Stop Visa card works in NY
If using Stop&Shop, be aware that points expire in 30 days.
You need to specifically track each point stack (like this one) on Stop&Shop site/app.
I pop them into my Google calendar app to stay organized. I can’t wait until we can spend them on groceries.

Not showing in ads, but I just went and bought a $500 vgc and it did earn fuel points. I’m in Virginia.
Bought a $500 vgc in Baltimore 10 minutes ago and got 1,500 gas points despite it not showing in the paper circular.
Not showing on S&S CT circular either. Going to try it anyways and see what happens.
In the Giant Westminster location there was a sign by the gift cards that said 3x visa.
This deal isn’t showing on any ad previews, the 15x gas on Disney gift cards that is showing is interesting though.
Not just the ad previews, but also the actual Stop and Shop circular I picked up in NYC. And not just Disney, also Lowes, Kohl’s, and Happy Moments. That last one is good at Regal Cinemas, Red Lobster, Macy’s, Cheesecake Factory, Bed Bath & Beyond, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Sephora. With a 20 gallon limit, you’re getting $30 worth of gas if you buy a $100 gift card.
Same in person in Connecticut. Nothing about gas points for Visa Gift Cards, but 15x on a couple restaurant GCs.
