{Expired] Giftcards.com: 5% Off Virtual Visa Giftcards, Promo Code VV5C3WC (Plus, 2x From Rakuten or 4% From Capital One)

Update 12/17/21: There’s a third code: VV56A27.

The Offer

  • Giftcards.com is offering 5% discount on virtual Visa gift cards with promo code VV5C3WC, VV56A27, VV5T216

Our Verdict

You can get up to $37.50 discount with this code. Max it out by purchasing 3 x $250 virtual Visa gift cards and the total will be $730.35 after factoring in fees.

This promo code is showing up on Rakuten, so it’ll stack with their 2x points/2% cashback as well which gets you another $14.60/1,460 back on the order. Capital One portal also shows the promo code and offers 4% (redeemable for gift cards). There are various 5% promo codes, but the one posted above is what’s showing on the portals. • Successfully bought three more cards today, 10 days after a single card order using all identical information I believe (I can't remember if it was the same promo code but the email, mailing address, and credit card details were the same, and both times I went through Capital One Shopping).

    • Bought the single card from my work computer and placed the triple-card order from my home computer, though.

  • Rats, It appears Rakuten is clawing back referral bonus on this one. The GC purchase has still tracked; however the $30 is gone from both referrer and reffered accounts. Not sure if this is because I used the same IP address and added the same home address for P2,3,4.

  • Can we use these to pay IRS taxes? Basically they would charge extra 2% fees or so to pay by debit card and this woul offset that 2% fees?

    • To add to what has been mentioned below, this card codes as debit even at Pay1040. Paid 247.42 to tax and 2.58 fee there. I utilized both ACI and Pay10440. I am reserving PayUSAtax for credit card payments next week.

I need to pay NJ estimated as well. Anyone know if NJ tax payments can be split like federal?

    • Used one of them on ACI Payments and it was processed as debit card -- made a $248 estimated tax pmt + $2 debit fee = $250 used

  • My Rakuten shopping trip was recorded on 12/14, but has not posted CB. Is this a dead horse or should I contact Rakuten (I used the code posted on their site, fresh browser, blah blah, etc.)?

    • Same thing happened to me. I got confirmation from Rakuten saying that 'Success! Your Giftcards.com shopping trip is complete' and that I can expect the amount of cashback within two weeks of purchase. However, the cashback turned out to be zero as 'Giftcards.com did not provide Cash Back for this purchase.' I've submitted a missing cashback form, and I will update if they are willing to resolve this issue.

    • Rakuten didn't track for me. I submitted the missing cash back form and they manually gave it to me.

    • Rakuten tracked fine for me using VV5C3WC code on 1st order -- also tracked fine using VV5T216 code on 2nd order

      12/19/21 Giftcards.com $511.90 $10.24
      12/15/21 Giftcards.com $511.90 $10.24

Doesn't hurt to file a "Missing Cash Back" claim from their help section

  • Bought 3 yesterday (forgot what code I used, capitalone shopping applied it for me). Bought 2 again today with code "VV5T216" . I used same email address , different card.

  • Just as a a DP: I realized I had insurance payments coming up. So went for 2 more rounds and it worked on the same CC. I have done 4 rounds of 3x 250 each round for a total of 1500 in VGCs this month so far from giftcards.com sitting at my desk without needing tpo go anywhere. The code might have been different on the first two and the last two though all 4 codes were taken off Rakuten. I used 2 different emails alternating between the two each time I bought. Rakuten tracked as well on all of them. The insurance company also gives a discount for payment in full. With the Rakuten cashback and referral bonus for P2, P3 the almost an extra $250 back on on $1500 spend. Happy Holidays!
