Our Verdict
They probably sent this out to those who’ve never used the app before. Not as good as the previous 25% off deal unfortunately. Keep in mind that Costco (and possibly some other stores) charge more on Google Express than buying direct. Other stores like Walmart and Target typically offer the same prices, as far as I’m aware.
They are a piece of sh*t. I got the email with that promo code, but it didn’t work. I contacted their customer service, they just say it doesn’t work but you will get more promo codes in the future. They didn’t even try to solve their problem.
I was about to place an order but then noticed that the prices are now a lot higher than what they were in the past. Even for the same item(s), the price is about 25-30% higher today. I looked at my Order History and was surprised to see the price difference(s). I am going to make a trip to a local Costco later today and compare the prices. I’ve added a few things to my Cart and will compare the prices on Google Express vs in-store later.
trick: LOG OFF all of ur sites that ur buying from.THEN RESET clear ur browsing history and cookies!!!! gta rmb that ur browsing history is shared amongst sites, including third pary, so its a simple way for them to track you, and raise prices. ive TESTED this and its exactly what they do.
Sorry google – I’m all tapped out after prime day LOL
I’m seeing the same promo on the Google Express homepage for “first app order” using the same code, so maybe it’s not targeted.
There is a 25% off coupon on Google Express as part of next week’s TMobile Tuesday. Doubt you can stack with this 20% off but FYI.
Walmart raises some prices on some items… if you have their app you can look back at old receipts to see what you paid in store… happy churning… John 3:16
Walmart, much like Target, matches their online prices more so than their in store prices. Ironic too since GE is predicated on B&M shopping.
Note that Google express is inaccurate and the final price is often incorrect. It usually a little lower than expected. So, be careful and do not maximize return, I mean do not try to order something for a final price of $60 (with tax and after discount). Use some margin.
Some numbers:
Maximum return: Final price with tax should be $75.01. After 20% discount it will be $60.01. After $20 off it goes to $40.01 for the overall discount of 46.7%.
Final price with tax – $80, overall discount – 45%
Final price with tax – $90, overall discount – 42.2%
Final price with tax – $100, overall discount – 40%
so are you saying that if i spend $200 i will not get a full %20 off?
picked up some good deals!
There is also a promo code I used last night for 20% called SUMMERFUN. Not sure if it was targeted but Google Express suggested it to me when I logged into their website from my laptop.
First timer only it says
Do I have to be targeted (email) to use this promo code?
I wasn’t targeted and got an “invalid” error message.
