Hertz: Share Your Five Star/President’s Circle Status

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Hertz is allowing Five Star® or President’s Circle® members to share their status

The Fine Print

  • Offer available to active Hertz Five Star and President’s Circle members only.
  • Each member can grant Five Star or President’s Circle status to one customer only.
  • Gifted status is available from 1/31/21 to 1/31/22.

Our Verdict

Hertz status isn’t that valuable, but free status is free status I guess. Hertz also filed bankruptcy earlier in the year. Do not ask for status in the comments.

I am President’s Circle. Hertz failed to credit airline miles for a string of rentals earlier in the year. No amount of phone calls and claim forms could rectify the issue. Terrible customer service and zero recognition of top tier elite status. No wonder they are bankrupt.

I agree, things did go downhill starting about 10 years ago.

We even bought cars from them on the sales side years ago. I will never forget my Christmas present in 2012. Did the three day tryout rental, took the car to a dealer for a cheap inspection and got not only a needed repair BUT FOUR new tires from Hertz when I brought them the service inspection report. Now that was a present for which I thank God every time I remember it (including now). 🙂

Apparently I am President’s Circle. I don’t think that actually means anything except for higher earning rate of points.

You get to select a car from the President’s Circle section. Occasionally there’s something decent.

Absolutely. If a free upgrade SUV from a Chevy Cruz or Toyota Camry or similar ICAR is awarded, it’s good. Because of low seating, I either want that SUV or I have to go back to a Nissan Note or a KIA Sol. So yes, an upgrade to an SUV is decent!

PS. I could use a gifted status if one is so inclined. Thanks for considering.

Before the pandemic, Hertz at DCA had some FINE cars in the President’s Circle section. Got a Mustang GT there, an Infiniti, and a Cadillac. They had some SUVs and pickup trucks too if you were into that.

Now it’s basically “pay for a Corolla, get a Malibu, Camry, or Impala.” (Although to be fair the recent Camry and Impala I’ve gotten from them have been top trim v6-equipped models).

President’s Circle here. Will never rent another Hertz car after they incorrectly expired all my points in November. Ignored my emails and calls.

Ain’t that something. They expired all my points, too, and they wouldn’t even consider restoring them. Seriously, I’m over it but I always wonder: Do they not understand that people with points are your most loyal customers in your loyalty program? Why piss them off?
And I’ve had Presidents Circle and 5 Star for years and it gets you very little. Again, I’m not bitter I said the same thing even before the expiration.

Same, they expired all my points during the height of the 1st wave. I stopped using them since.

sounds like a popular train wreck. I had more than $400 worth of points expired with them, with the false information provided by the incompetent customer service
