How Often Does The Free FICO Score From Barclays Update?

As most of you know by now (or should know by now) Barclays offers a free FICO score (the TU-08 classic variety) to most card holders (e.g Barclays Arrival). Card holders have had their scores updated and there didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to when these scores would be updated.

A myFICO forum user decided to send a secured message to Barclays to find out when updates to this score would happen and their response can be summarized as follows:

  • At least once every 60 days
  • Whenever a major change has happened to the card holders TransUnion credit report. For example but not limited to: new account openings, hard credit inquiries and delinquent payments

As Barclays is part of the FICO open access program we can presume others participating in this program (Discover, FNBO and possibly Walmart) are following these same guidelines for when a FICO score will be updated.

Hat tip to the myFICO forums.

It has been more than 60 days and Barclay has not updated my credit score. Last update 1/25/2014.
